Patient at Laramie hospital found with firearm

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie was
put on lockdown last night (Saturday) when hospital staff
discovered one patient had a firearm because she was afraid her
husband might attack her there.
Laramie Police Department Commander Dale Stalder says the whole
matter apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute that began
Friday.
The woman was admitted to the hospital on Friday. Her husband
showed up later and was belligerent toward the hospital staff.
He was arrested and charged with interference and cited for
carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. He later posted bond
and was released.
Stalder says it is believed the woman had a friend sneak a
firearm into the hospital so she could defend herself if her
husband were to show up again.
Police convinced the woman to give up the firearm.

It doesn't say howSHE was carrying the firearm, however.

I would hope that the reason for the lockdown was the husband and not the gun.

Police convinced the woman to give up the firearm. :banghead:

Nor does it say she legally had to relinquish it. Just that police convinced her otherwise as opposed to force or demand.

Agreed. What frustrates me is when the person who has the most to lose istold that someone else will do a better job of protecting them and that they should give up their means of self-defense.
