Getting a ride down there is not the problem - if you don't OC - getting a ride back, now that is another story.

Back on Topic: Is there a list of Bills that are going through committee? Which ones people are planning on speaking at?

Bumping this up again, anybody want to carpool down with me? A schedule for any late meetings hasnt been posted yet but I expect to leave around 7 or so and head down. Probably won't head back until midafternoon at the earliest, maybe after dinner if there is a late meeting.

Sure business casual is fine. When you see all the bikers in full club regalia, you won't worry about it.

From todays VA-Alert

If you live in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area and the Speaker of the House, Bill Howell, is your Delegate, we need you to show up between 9:00 and 9:15 AM inside the General Assembly Building on Monday, January 15th (VCDL Lobby Day) to be part of a delegation that will be meeting with the Speaker at 9:30 AM.

You don't have to be a constituent of Delegate Howell to be part of that delegation, however. The more, the merrier.

Board member, and Delegate Howell constituent, Bruce Jackson will be getting the delegation together on the left side of the metal detectors once you pass through them.

The address of the General Assembly Building is: 910 Capitol Square Richmond, Virginia 23219

Two more alerts will be coming this weekend. One with more details about Lobby Day and the other will list the gun bills that have been introduced this year, VCDL's rating of the bills, and talking points on those bills. All this will be useful for those attending Lobby Day on Monday.

Still 10 but there are a few things going on that it wouldn't hurt to have bodies there at 9.

A very successful VCDL lobby day today. The highlight of the day was the bulk of the VCDL members 20+ attending the Virginians Against Handgun Violence press conference with RINO Senator Devolites-Davis touting her gun show loophole bill. With about 4 news camera crew there and a fair number of reporters there, in the initial stages of the press conference VCDL well out numbered the reporters and antigunners put together. However the antis as usual bussed in school children and cynically used them as backdrop with the battlecry 'its for the children'. During and after the press conference VCDL's presence was noted, pointedly when the antis asked us for clarification of, and several members participated in interviews with the press.

You know an outrageous but possibly very effective sign would be a child saying "protect my future rights, registration leads to confiscation, don't ban private gun sales":D

Moving on here's VCDLs official report on what was maybe the best moments since I became a part of that organization.

From VA-ALERTJohn Pierce, the VCDL web master, has posted photos of Lobby Day and
the videos from Senator Devolities Davis' press conference. One
video shows anti-gunner Buford Scott of Scott & Stringfellow (I'm not
doing business with that firm nor BB&T) saying that he ultimately
wants to register all guns in America, using Canada as a model.

VIDEO and DUCT TAPE ALERT

Jim Sollo, president of Virginians Against Handgun Violence does
introduction:

Senator Devolites Davis (Senator DD) describes her bill to the press:

S. Buford Scott of Scott & Stringfellow spills the beans on the true
agenda of VAHV - to give us complete gun registration like Canada [
and which Canada is trying to get rid of ;-)]:

Question and answer session toward the end of the press conference.

A question was asked about who performed the 'study' that showed over
80% of people want more gun control.

Board member Bruce Jackson answers a question toward the end on the
dealer's cost for a background check. A VCDL member raises his hand
at the very end when asked if there are more questions. For a split
second Senator DD almost calls on him, but then clarifies with, "From
the PRESS." ;-)
