I do believe that he would have been charged, and understand the same is true in Great Britain. I also believe it is truly pathetic that great nations such as these would force their law-abiding citizens to become defenseless sheep in a world filled with wolves. Had the story unfolded in Australia, the thugs would have killed the Marine, and more than likely gotten away with it, since dead men can't be witnesses. I guess the media would then have used the story as an excuse to call for even tighter weapon control.

I'm proud to live in a nation where men like the Marine are considered heroes, not criminals.
