So about an hour ago (around 12:45 AM) I decided to run to the Short Pump Walmart to buy some DVD's. I walked in, and about 20-30 seconds later (I hadn't even made it past the middle of the registers), an unarmed security ninja came out of the woodwork and stopped me. He asked me if I had a CHP, I said that I didn't, and that I didn't need one because I was carrying openly. At this point, he told me that Walmart doesn't allow weapons on the premesis, and told me to leave. I said that I would gladly leave, but I wanted to talk to the manager on duty first. He took me to her, and I explained that I was openly carrying, and just came to buy a few movies. She said that I needed a concealed weapons permit (this woman was extremely uninformed), and that if I didn't have one, that I had to leave because it was company policy. I said that I wasn't "concealing", and that I didn't need one, but I would gladly leave (the whole time I was being extra extra polite, and had my hands in front of me). Before I left, I requested that she write down the name and number of the store manager, and her name and position.
Last time I checked, Walmart had no policy against carrying in their stores. Didn't someone on here actually post a voicemail from corporate headquarters stating that it was OK?
Anyways, here are the names and numbers if anybody wants to call and reaffirm the legality of OC in that Walmart:
Store Manager: Robert Belcher- 804-360-9777
Asst. Manager who told me to leave: Erin A.
Edit: removed assistant manager's last name due to a ridiculous message sent to me from her. Apparently the last name of A MANAGER should be kept private. HAH
