SNIP from link above:

Moates said that since he was sued by Bloomberg in December, sales have increased 50 percent at his stores in Chesterfield and Charlotte Court House. That increase, he said, is directly due to the support from the defense league and others, and that support is a key reason he has no intention of settling with Bloomberg.

"To cave in to him," Moates said, "is like to cave in to Hitler."

Why is it that VCDL can find a way to help these guys out without costing any money, but the vaunted NRA is nowhere to be found?

No need to answer, it's a rhetorical question...

Check the VCDL website VA Alert Archives. There is a link showing the NRA was getting into the issue. The VA Alert or an item within the alert was titled something like "800 lb. gorilla weighs in." You could also check the NRA website. There may be something there on it.

From VCDL Alert Archive:

SNIP:

VCDL welcomes the NRA's entry into the battle!

Wayne LaPierre talks about fighting Bloomberg in Congress and in
statehouses. IN THE LONG TERM, that is an important way to hopefully
end this travesty of justice.

Yes, and the rest of that VA Alert points out the NRA's absence from the front lines:
...However, VCDL would encourage the NRA to join us in fighting
Bloomberg in the courthouses, where the dealers are being dragged
RIGHT NOW.

If we wait for a legislative solution, a lot of these dealers will
either be bankrupt or under the thumb of a tyrant - providing
Bloomberg with what is normally private information about who the
store's customers are and what guns (including the serial numbers)
that those customers have bought. This, unfortunately, is what
Cole's in South Boston is preparing to do.

With your generosity, VCDL has been helping fend off the legal fees
required to stand up to Bloomberg. But. the dealers being sued need
that 800-pound gorilla to help them, too.

NRA or no NRA, VCDL cannot, and will not, wait.

We are working on a new initiative to get a lot more money into those
dealer's pockets, help them sell more guns, and all while making the
legal defense fund stretch further! As soon as we've gotten the
details worked out, I'll announce it.

I shouldn't have said anything since I don't like to bash the NRA or any other RKBA group on this forum, but their unwillingness to act unless they are assured of looking good drives me nuts. Whether you are a politician or a regular joe gun dealer, NRA only seems to back you up if doing so makes them smell like a rose.

Just how I view things based on news and internet buzz; it's NRA's job to convince me otherwise, and I wish they'd try harder.
