Ohio gun control reforms still fall short of Gold Star open carry status

******************************************************
New gun laws in Ohio effective 14 March 2007 due to passage of HB 347 over Governor Taft's veto still fall short of Gold Star Open carry status.

While HB 347 does wipe all local gun carry restrictions off the books, and ends the state's infamous "Ohio vehicle open carry requirement," Ohio still requires a gun owners to hold a permit to conceal handguns in order to open carry handguns in vehicles.

This infirmity in Ohio's laws must be fixed before OpenCarry.org can upgrade Ohio's status to a Gold Star Open Carry State.

Thankfully though, all gun owners may now, on foot, openly carry handguns in holsters without any permit on the streets, sidewalks, parks, malls, and other public places throughout Ohio without fear of prosecution under some obscure local ordinance.

One can be threatened and prosecuted for inducing panic or (at a stretch) aggravated menacing, however.

usually not unless you are brandishing the gun. And also it has to be witnessed by the officer that you are acting wreckless. it's like another motorist calling the police because you are speeding. they can't arrest you on the other person's word.

But that is just to defend against charges, you are right about getting threatened and possibly harassed by the responding officer.
