Clerical errors can be anything on the 4473. Transposing numbers like instead of 07 for the year the applicant accidently puts 70. Not putting "NMN" for No Middle Name. Accidently putting issue date of ID in the expiration date box. City, county, state is an area that applicants screw up alot. I think most employees scan over the form to make sure the correct blocks are filled in and the Yes, No's are answered correctly. But do not verify every block is filled in 'correctly' but it's time to start.

someone even said that using the postal code for the state - like VA instead of Virginia is an error. I have no confirmation about that. just what I read somewhere.

Yes, I've heard that from severalFFLs over the years. Very petty sh*t, indeed.

I wonder what the other than"minor clerical" errorswere. And how the error rate was computed.

P.S. Red's Trading Post has some nice guns on auction.

Possum, 'Normal' or universally accepted abbreviations are ok. VA for Virginia is ok, FFX for Fairfax is not. Basically if the ATF Agent reads the form and knows what it means you are ok, you don't want them to say, What the hell is PW county?
