I got my CHP in the mail yesterday my girlfriend called to tell me i got something from the clerk of courts and I told her to open it she told me what it was and i asked her to go get it laminated well when I got home I looked at it and apparently i needed to sign it but now i cannot because of the laminate. does anyone know if this is a problem? and if so do I need to reapply or call the clerk or what?

    IANAL

You should be ok. I've heard of similar stories in VA with positive outcomes. Call the clerk's office and explain what happened.

I personally wouldn't carry concealed until you it's straightened out. You don't want any potential issues.

The clerk will replace it for a nominal fee (like 10 dollars).

maybe use a sharpie in the meantime? it won't be on the paper, but it should be permanent.

My brother had to do this (because of a stolen/lost wallet) and it was not a problem. He went in to the clerk's officer and they gave him a certified copy of his permit, which looks just like the original. (I think it also cost him $10.) I would also recommend against carrying on your current permit until you get everything straightened out. Although, there is always open carry!
