Castle Doctrine (SB 378)

The house and senate have both passed and signed HB 378. That is the bill that will repeal the duty to retreat and also extend the "castle" to include vehicles and place of business. All it needs now is Perry's signature, which it is expected to get.

Also it mentions SB 534 which would allow you to lock your handgun in your car while at work.

A step in the right direction indeed :)

The article I read was from Austin American Statesman and they make you sign up to view articles on their website, so I just scanned the paper. Its a little wrinkled but you can still read it.

Also I found it funny that critics say it would "give a new legal defence to criminals." Well for 1: I would say who cares if criminals shoot each other? and 2: since when did criminals legally carry a firearm? Because the bill says you cannot use it as a defence if you are commiting a crime yourself.

For some reason hidebehind is being difficult, so I upped them to a different host.
And to aid those on dialup I made them clickable thumbnails.
