Former Wisconsin Governor, Tommy Thompson annouced on sunday, April 1st, that he was seeking the bid for President of the United States. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/02/us...mp;oref=slogin
Well, he couldn't have picked a better day for it (April Fools Day). Having lived through "Tommy the Taxers" tenure I can tell you he is not as conservative as you might think, and he is definately not as pro-gun as he wants you to think.
To be sure, concealed carry isn't exactly a mainstream Republican issue in Wisconsin. After all, one of the most popular governors in state history -- Tommy Thompson -- opposed the idea since it was first discussed in the state legislature during the mid-1990s. The Doyle Administration is simply following in Thompson's footsteps on this issue.
Gov. Tommy G. Thompson, a vigorous gun rights backer, opposed "concealed carry" then, and his chief of staff, John Matthews, said Thompson would oppose it now.
Doesn't sound like a vigorous gun rights backer to me.
It's a shame he isn't all that gun-friendlybecausehe has such a coolname!
