This is a bit off-topic, but it does bear on Ohio gun laws, so I thought someone might know about it...

I was considering going hunting next season with one of those replica "trench gun" shotguns with a bayonet mounted (easier than tripping over it on your belt), just for field dressing any catch. I wondered if anyone knew of any restrictions on blades of any kind with respect to hunting in Ohio. I can't find anything.

Follow-up: I called the natural resources management people in Columbus, and they said that it's legal to do this, but they are now satisfied that I'm insane. ;-/

Same thing happend to me when i asked if it was legal to hunt wild boar with a high powered rifle i told them was not clearly defined in laws book and made them give me a flat yes or no answer they did not like that but the answer was yes its legal which is dumb as hell cause if you can hunt wild boar with high powered rifle why cant we hunt deer with them have a great day:banghead:

Feral pigs and coyotes are nuisance animals which are, somewhat arbitrarily, treated differently from "regular" quarry. There's no closed season and you can technically use large-bore rifles, but game wardens will want an explanation of why you're traipsing through the woods with an otherwise-forbidden.30-06, say, and god help you if you don't have a basic hunting license on you or if you do have any other kind of catch with you at the time... poaching is a felony in Ohio, as I recall.

i went to an area known to have feral hogs and had the printed e-mail and a valid hunting license with me when i went and we stopped in at district four office and questioned the game warden for the county we were hunting in and he said yes we could use our 7.62 mm i personally took my recurve bow im kinda old school

Not a thing wrong with "old school." I prefer old mil-surp .30-cal sniper type rifles for my own part (anyone with a spare Soviet SVT-40, feel free to leave me a message). ;-/
