Democracy is the rule of fools by fools, democrat or GOP. A poll is the truest form of direct democracy.

Boy, I'd sure like to have a workable Republican form of government, but it has fallen apart:
1. Our elected representatives don't respect our constitutional rights.
2. The unelected Supreme Court and the federal courts in general don't respect our constitutional rights, and we can hardly do anything about it.
3. The executive branch is run by a bunch of unelected legislators who claim they don't make laws but "rules," e.g. the FDA, the FCC, the BATFE, and on and on.
4. The people by and large don't know their constitutional rights, and don't care because they're happy to let the government take care of them and give them stuff.
As a consequence, our republican form of government is really a tyranny. Instead of the majority of fools, as you call them, running their country themselves, they are ruled by a tiny minority of
corrupt fools who care only for themselves. I don't begin with the premise that the majority of Americans are fools. I think they'd govern themselves better than the idiots in power now. I'm sure I would.
Gee, direct democracy is looking better all the time.
