Mayor Jennings of Albany has proposed a NYC style gun ban which would include BB and paintball guns in the registration process. It also outlines that utility knives must be kept either behind a counter or higher than someone seven foot tall could reach. They can only be used by people under 18 under direct supervision of a parent, teacher or employer. :shock:

Based on that I would assume any gun in his view fits the bill.

Why do they not get that it is not about hunting?

Who is this guy from the so called shooters association and why is he in bed with these people?

I saw the video clip per the above link, and one might not be blamed for thinking that crooked gun dealers (the supposed 1% they mention) are responsible for 60% of the guns supplied to criminals. This is horseshit. I sell guns, and live in a higher than average crime area, and I can say without fear of contradiction that the overwhelming majority of guns possessed by criminals are gotten by burglaries, robberies, resale of previously stolen pieces, and "straw purchases," and not through FFL licensees who have their own livelihoods (and liberty and reputation, etc) on the line. Sure, there is corruption in any system, but we are not the core problem.

The legitimate weapons trade is very highly regulated, and even minor infractions are usually dealt with harshly - any deliberate violations are rightly punished severely. I don't know what these supposedly gun-dealer-friendly mayors propose to do that ATF isn't doing already, but the simple fact of the matter is that the drug rackets drive most of the illegal weapons trade. For every shady gun deal from a shop, there must be a hundred thousand residential burglaries where unsecured guns get ripped off by hard-up dopers.

Just one man's opinion from within the system in question.
