The only time I go to Waterside Mall drinking is involvedand thusthe gun stays at home, so unfortunately I can't answer your specific question. I OC downtown and around Norfolk frequently and haven't had a problem. Just make sure you steer clear of the bases ;)!

i'll be staying in the Sheraton, on the boat for the wedding, and then whatever the wife wants to do in the area after that.
