From yesterday's VCDL VA-Alert:
VCDL Update 4/22/07 - Defending your right to defend yourself

*************************************************
11. Christian Trejbal responds to VCDL
*************************************************
Roanoke Times columnist, Christian Trejbal, who was behind the
publishing of the CHP database on the Roanoke Times website, sent me
a couple of emails last week.

Although he did not request that I do so, I want to publish them to
keep the record straight. His comments were on a VCDL Update item
from last week:

"Actually, I did enter the gun show. I stopped by the booth both on
the way in and out. Spent a couple of hours inside, talked to some
people, bought some ammo for my pistol. That's the most blatant
error in your newsletter anyway ... I just wanted to let you know I
really did just stop by to say hi and hopefully show there were no
hard feelings
since I was at the gun show anyway. I'm sorry that the
guys at the booth took it the wrong way."

Maybe I'm being suspicious but I have a hard time believing this. Anyone else smell something fishy?

Note: the bolding is mine for emphasis.

Maybe he realizes his mistake.

Have to give him a little credit. He has nothing to gain really by saying it.

I'd more likely believe in unicorns than Trejbal owning a pistol.

What blatant error was he refering to, in the news letter

He's probably refering to the part of the newsletter that reads:

"At no time did they pay and enter the gun show. I believe the only
reason they came was to find the VCDL table and see if they could
stir up a response for the camera."

"They" being Trejbal and his companions...

Peace

Well, he did bring friends and a camera. But at least it seems he's reaching out. I would give a suspicious chance if it were me. I'm not here to live out life-long grudges.

Who knows? Why not be decent (yet cautious) and see where this leads....

My personal guess is that he is planning on writing a book about Virginia gun culture... hence he bought a gun so he can talk about that process, went to a gun show so he can talk about that process, emailed Philip so he can talk about that experience, etc. Just a possibility I thought of...

I don't know. Just reading his article, watching the fall out, and the Roanoke Time back pedaling, makes me very suspicious (cop paranoia I'm sure) of his motivations. The side of man that is the main stay of my profession is that of a chameleon. They appear docile when you have the upper hand (I've seen a lot of tough guys cry like littlebitches when you catch'em), but when the tables are turned, watch out.

Trejbal hasn't changed his spots, unless he starts writing like John Lott!. My $0.02.

I am on the same boat Sic! He is up to something... give it time... he needs to find some work now that he has been muzzled. Maybe some freelance articles for the anti's…who knows?
