His ride went for a ride...

    Another goof with a gun.

I will give the guy kudos for reporting the loss. That was smart andresponsible. Lord only knows the impact of his error. Maybe there should be some kind of penalty for irresponsibly losing a gun and letting it get out there in the wild.

What happens to an FFL when BATF discovers that the licensee lost a gun? Fine? License revocation?

    Orem Police Beat 4.26

LOST HANDGUN -- A man from Midway was loading up some things Sunday evening from the Ventana Apartments at 1300 S. 400 W. He placed his Kahr 9mm handgun (he has a concealed carry permit) on the top of his truck while he placed other items inside the truck. He then forgot to put the gun inside the truck and drove off with it still sitting on the exterior of the truck. Naturally, the gun didn't make it to Midway.

When the man discovered the gun missing and realized what he'd done, he notified the police and then retraced his path of travel, but to no avail. Officers here checked the area around the apartments where the gun most likely would have fallen from the truck, but found nothing. If anyone finds the weapon, they should notify the police immediately. The gun has been listed NCIC as stolen.

I've seen wallets, purses, bags of groceries, jugs of milk and once a very committed cat going for a ride on the roof of a car. These all have a proper place to be while enjoying the scenery. A gun should be in a holster, in his hand or stuffed in his tighty whiteys so that he KNOWS where it is at all times.

That said, I once proudly open carried for 6 hours before noticing I had an empty holster! :what: Once my heart started beating again, I mentally back tracked and realized that I had never actually touched my gun that morning and it was still sitting at home. Doh!

I hope you have practiced your retention techniques, because if the OCDO monkey sees your back-up banana there will surely be a fight.

I'll make you an offer: I will argue and fight for all of your rights, if you will do the same for me. That is the only way freedom can work. We have to respect all rights, all the time--and strive to win the rights of the other guy as much as for ourselves.

If I am equal to another, how can I legitimately govern him without his express individual consent?

There is no human being on earth I hate so much I would actually vote to inflict government upon him.
