Court sides with county in FOIA suit
A Prince William Circuit judge has ruled in favor of Prince William County in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
Prince William Circuit Judge Richard B. Potter has denied Front Royal resident Dennis Fusaro's petition against the county for allegedly failing to comply with FOIA, the act that allows for the full or partial disclosure of previously unreleased information and documents controlled by governments.
Fusaro e-mailed a FOIA request to Prince William Police Chief Charlie T. Deane on Dec. 15, 2006, asking for orders, memos, letters and e-mails from Circuit Court judges or clerks in relation to carrying out concealed carry permit applications, according to court documents.
Fusaro said he wanted to know how the county's handgun policy was developed.
