Walmart on Battlefield " Kicked out"

Well, I thought I knew the Walmart Corporate policy on carring firearms into there stores, but I guess I was wrong. On 05-18-07 while walking through the Battlefield store an employee mumbled that there was another wannabe cop in walmart; and in less than 1 min, I was asked to leave by two managers. Thier exact words " No firearms are allowed in walmart stores, even if you have a permit". Has the policy changed? I have also tried to contact corporate, and the local regional managers with no luck. I am pissed, If the policy haschanged then my money will no longer go there!

You may be right. Mike feels the answer is to grind it out--one encounter at a time. That way, there will be no weakness. Eventually, W-M will back down.

This is the suggestion I made that Mike was responding to:

"The Wal-Mart "problem" for OCers can be solved. And most of the benefits of solving it will accrue to the OCers. Somebody should call McQueen and get an appointment with him (or whomever has jurisdiction), fly over there, hash it out, come up with an agreement, shake some hands,set some metrics and some follow-up procedures and be done with it.

It would be a HUGE feather in OCDO's cap to work out a deal that would actually work--insteadof getting nickeled and dimed to death."

Last I heard Wal-Mart Carry policy is "State laws are to be followed regarding the carry of firearm within Wal-Mart stores. However, customers which are making other customers feel uncomfortable and ruining their shopping experience should be asked to remove firearm from the store. (words similar to that effect)

Take that as you will.

Pipsqueak strikes again? Not sure if you were around a few months ago, but I posted about getting kicked out of that very Wal-Mart for the same reason. Did one of the guys that kicked you out have dark. curly hair? At least they didn't call the cops this time. The management at that store is about as anti as they come. You'll probably get the same response that I got when I called corporate... toolbags...

Sounds like people that have trouble need to call the number the woman gave in the voice mail.

It would not be good for a business to ban customers.

I called Betty Swanson Doyal; the GM for that store, she stated that another customer felt threaten by my firearm. This is kind of wierd, I saw no one even notice.I stated thatI thought that walmart allowed carring of firearms in thier store if it followed state law, she then stated this is privet property and the management does not want firearms in the store. As of 5-26-07 there are no signs on any doors, I guess i can still carry untill asked to leave. I tried to call corporate, but they just defer the questions to local management. this sucks!!!!!! And, no this was an older black asst. manager who asked me to leave.

I have to wonder, if you were to say that you feel threatened by older black asst. managers, would they make them leave? Sometimes smart-ass teenagers make me twitch, can I have them escorted from the premises? What if I own a small business and feel threatened by a WalMart store, will they close up and go home?

Why is it that a gun on the hip of a cop isre-assuring but that same gun on the hip of a citizen causes fear? :banghead:

The answer is contained in the post below. There is a corporate policy, but they always hedge their bet by saying that if you are making customers nervous you will be asked to leave. It is obvious that this GM is nervous about guns, so if noticed you will all be asked to leave.

Sad but true and as long as she is GM, it will probably stay the same. :banghead:

Not if they are visited by a resolute force of open carrying OCDCers!

Last month Mercutio545 was hassled in the Suffolk Wal-Mart on College Dr. and forced to leave the store. But a bunch of guys here decided to go and show those Wal-Mart folks athing or two. So they organized a visit to the Suffolk store and proudly OC'dthere, less than 24 hours after Mercutio545 got kicked.

The Wal-Mart 3 (adamwa, Reverend73, and mercutio545) rode that night and there have been no reported problems with the Suffolk Wally World since.

Time for the Wal-Mart x to ride again...:celebrate

It is amazing how such a simple concept can elude so many people. The fact that state law prevails at Walmarts, does NOT mean you get to OC or even CC in those stores. IT IS UP TO THE MANAGER OF THE LOCAL STORE!

That IS what the state law says.

If you get tossed from one store go to another and let both store know you have moved your money.

When you run out of Walmarts, stop going there, and tell them that too.

Or we could send HankT to corporate and have a full blown gun ban at all of the stores if people really want consistency. In order to be consistent ALL stores would have to meet the requirements of the strictest jurisdiction in which they have a store.

Guess what the code might be there. Can you say Bloomberg?

Rev, i just wrote mine last night, was yours a VSP trooper or a VB cop? You got the name of the guy by chance?

Im down for making a trip to walmart so long as its after the 1st of june when i get off this floating latrine. Lets figure something out.

My feelings always been that if they kick one out they wont remember, but if they kick 10 out, they will remember and they will also remember that if each person spent 100 bucks there (even better if 10 people had a hundred bucks worth of crap with them in the store when told to leave) that they just lost 1000 bucks...
