Hello All-

New to this forum, I've gotten a quick education in WA OC over the last few days just reading posts on this forum.

Anyone else from Clark County on this board? I looked around a bit, but nobody jumped out.

I occasionally CC, but normally my handguns are therefor a home-defense role and recreation. There are a few instances that OC would suit my purposes, so I'm interested in anyone else's Clark County experiences. Specifically Battle Ground and Vancouver.

Don't worry too much about being new- the interest and getting the right info is the first place to start.

I would encourage you to get the CC permit so you can legally have a loaded pistol in your car. It's very easy- it's right by the courthouse, and only takes a few minutes- they process a lot of them and are very professional and no-nonsense about it. Usually fairly friendly too, if it's no too busy.

yeah I am just taking things slow, im going to go apply this friday, and I am toying with going to the OC meet next month but I might just have an empty gun in my holster, since I woudl have to drive and I am pretty sure I can OC with no permit I would just have to keep it unloaded till I get there

im going to re-read the law a few more times to make sure I am right though

I should point out of course, that I carry it all over in my house, just havn't ventured outside yet...

I work from home as a programmer so only go outside once a week anyhow

You are correct, that you have to keep it unloaded. I'd recommend a very small lockbox for keeping it in while you are in the car. I bought the large size of this:

Secure-it Handgun Safe

You can unload and lock your firearm in this whenever you are in the car, then unlock and put back in your holster when you get out. At least until you get your CCP. Also makes a great place to lock up your firearm if you have to go into a federal building or similar place that is unfriendly to those who wish to protect themselves.

Hello - I'm also a resident of Clark County, one of the many Ore tax-payers living here..

I have CC a little bit, but have not OC except for out in the woods.

Still getting comfortable carrying and finding some good holsters, as well as needing to get a weapon better suited to carry, at least concealed. (The big Berreta doesn't hide very well for me.)

Welcome to the group! Do you have a 92FS? That's my carry firearm also. Although I very seldomly worry about concealing, those few times I wish to, I just throw on a vest, or an israeli bodyguard shirt, or a hawaiin shirt. Works just fine. I also use a Blackhawk Serpa holster for my 92FS that I just love!

Hope you can join us for our picnic next month!

Hm, I'll also have to look into getting one of those shirts, gregma. Looks really comfortable, even in the summer.

And there's a saying that I just love: "If it's good enough for the Israelis, it's good enough for me!"... usually in reference to firearms and tactics. ;)

I absolutely love those shirts! Of course it took 3 months to get it, but it was well worth it. And now I have a garment that has hebrew on the tags. Not a word of english :)
