So I was coming home from work today (I work at a bank) and I stopped at a gas station to pick up some skoal and a drink.

Not really a problem, a police officer clearly saw my firearm, did not even bother to ask me for a permit. However, the gentleman working the register made the comment 'bankers carry guns now?' My reply -- 'To and from work they do!' (exit stage right)

Anyway I work at a different branch on a weekly basis, I also get a threat usually once a week -- I usually get to be the bearer of bad news, telling people I need to hold their 15,000 checks for 5 business days, the most recent reply to that was by a man who told me he would kick my ass if I did not comply with his wish! Of course I would not risk my job for this and I did not comply.

But nonetheless, people are unpredictable and I choose to carry to and from work in a fobus paddle holster on my hip.

Company policy for my employer states that no weapons are allowed while on the property, however I carry on to their property when I am off the clock -- wearing logo wear or not--if I am not behind the counter, you can bet I am packing.

My question here is this -- would it be at all possible for my employer to bring a termination against me for wearing their logo wear and carrying a firearm, while not on the clock? Company policy states nothing about this -- so I am assuming I am in the clear. However, I have had about 4 or 5 comments from people, only 1 negative, but I am afraid if they come into a branch and say, wow you guys are packing now eh?, that it might come back to me in a negative light.

Everyone I work with knows that I carry and most have seen me when I do, and they do not mind in the least, however human resources is unaware to my knowledge, and I do not want to bring this up to them -- then have them edit the policy to address this, then I may not be able to carry at all while in company logo wear.

Does anyone else have a similar problem at work? Any suggestions as how to approach human resources if I so decide to, clearly my motive here is self defense due to threats at some of our branches in bad areas, especially the ones staffed by police officers -- however we all know the police have no duty to protect us, hence why I protect myself.

    Advice is much appreciated!

    P.S.

Wear your shirt inside-out coming and going with your piece.

Hard to do with the clothes I wear.

Also, at work today they put out a memo for the Gary, IN Air Show that our company will be having an outing to -- it says NO FIREARMS in big bold letters Guess I won't be attending, at least in their little tented firearm free area
