    what are the restrictions to carrying a gun while outside of city limits? i.e. Camping.

    from what ive read (DEFINATELY not an expert...) you can carry it IN city limits... so out of ciy limits youll probably receive even less of a reaction, it shouldnt be uncommon (when we would go to the mountains in CA, dad took his 30-30 and no one even cared)

    and there was a place where we would go camping (san gabriel mountains) in CA, and there was a shooting area out there, on the side of the road (CA's laws are about 50x more strict than here lol)

    Utah's preemption does not allow cities to create firearm laws that are more restrictive than state law. Utah law allows open carry while unloaded (2 actions from firing) for those without concealed weapons permits and fully loaded open carry or concealed carry for those with CCW's. So if you have a CCW that Utah recognizes you will be good to OC loaded in and out of cities, otherwise just make sure it is 2 actions from firing.

    (1) For the purpose of this chapter, any pistol, revolver, shotgun, rifle, or other weapon described in this part shall be deemed to be loaded when there is an unexpended cartridge, shell, or projectile in the firing position.
    (2) Pistols and revolvers shall also be deemed to be loaded when an unexpended cartridge, shell, or projectile is in a position whereby the manual operation of any mechanism once would cause the unexpended cartridge, shell, or projectile to be fired.
    (3) A muzzle loading firearm shall be deemed to be loaded when it is capped or primed and has a powder charge and ball or shot in the barrel or cylinders.

    No permit, legally unloaded, OC, 1000+ft from a school and you are just fine if you stay away from the few restricted areas
