If you were to include hospitals, clinics, healthcare facilities, and the like, the numbers would be over twice what doctors manage. In other words, the healthcare and medical industry is dangerous to your health and welfare.

I will work on it today and look for one, any number I find will be purely an educated guess by someone, but it is a matter of how reliable that guess is.

I just dont thinks its to 80 million yet, close but probably a little shy, and as for 147 million, no way!

294 / 2 is 147 million...

294 is the number of people not households. A household could run from 1 to 20 people and I have no idea what the average would be. Either way there are a lot of gun owners in the US.

In the Northeast, about 23% of the households have a firearm(s). In the South, the percentage is 78%. I would bet that the percentage of western and mountain states is also pretty high for gunowning households. States like Montana, the Dakotas, Idaho, and Wyoming are prime hunting states with hardy, salt of the earth Americans. Would be interesting to see what the percentage is for the pacific coastal states.

In 2004, the statistic was even lower. Here's something I wrote up last week for an anti-gunner.

Just in case you care (most recent year available; 2004):
Unintentionally killed by firearms: 649
Unintentionally killed by vehicles: 43,432 (66.9x more likely)
Unintentionally killed by poisons: 20,950
Unintentionally killed by falling: 18,807
Unintentionally killed by heart disease: 652,486
Unintentionally killed by flu: 59,664

So, what does this say? This says that the type of firearms use that you find wrong is nearly 6700% more safe than you riding in/driving a car, more than 3200% more safe than just living your daily life (and accidentally poisoning yourself), and 2900% more safe than living your life anywhere there is a potential for falling (stairs, etc). You are also over 1000x more likely to just keel over and die from heart disease* and 92x more likely to be killed by somebody else passing the flu virus to you.

*Average: Certain age groups are lower and others are higher.
