I have to say I don't know what movie it is from, but I bet it's something I would have to watch IFC or Sundance for.........

I'll give it a day or so before I mention the movie's name, to see if anyone gets it.

Hint: it is not a publicly well-known film (although you can rent or buy the DVD easily), but the producer and the lead actor are both famous today.

It was George Lucas' sci fi dystopia THX1138 starring Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasance. Good 1984-type story.

There's a scene in it in which Duvall, who is a worker drone, is watching TV and the program is just a robot cop repeatedly beating a prone worker with a knightstick over and over again.
