YMCA?

I thought it would be cheaper to get off my A$$ and go t the gym rather than go buy new pants, so i was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the YMCA. Not sure if they would even notice when i walked in and checked into there little computer, but hell there is only one way to find out. Of course my gun would be locked up in the locker room while i was working out.

I would not recommend it. I don't know about the Portsmouth YMCA but the Richmond YMCAs have a policy against it.

YMCA Richmond Member Code of Conduct

Prohibited actions include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices or objects that may be used as weapons.
Even if it is not against policy in Portsmouth, I would recommend carrying concealed and not openly. Thefts from lockers at health clubs and YMCAs is very common. Having a lock does not matter as the thieves often have bolt cutters.

Be very careful, Desertdoc.

Very careful.

Don't talk to any strangers.

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a[/b].
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a[/b].

They have everything that you need to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys ...

You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal,
You can do whatever you feel ...

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you've got to know this one thing!

No man does it all by himself.
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf,
And just go there, to the y.m.c.a.[/b]
I'm sure they can help you today.

I said, I was down and out with the blues.
I felt no man cared if I were alive.
I felt the whole world was so jive ...

I would think that it would be safer to secure it in a lockbox in a car than open carrying in a gym where some punk might spot your prized firearm, wait for you to work out, and steal it out the locker in 10 seconds.

Doc,
I've been a member of the Yorktown YMCA for the last 3 years. I used to CC there, and never saw or read any policy against it, but one guy had his wallet stolen because he left his locker unlocked while he showered, so I decided I couldn't trust the lockers either. (Don't want to lose little Roscoe and my hand-made CC holster:cry:). I assumed OC would cause some issues so I never did that, but I have on many occasions left my OC rig on after putting the pistol in my car safe. I'm sure others have noticed, but only one guy said anything ("Are you a cop?" "Nope, I just open carry when I'm out in public." "Oh.") If you want to test the waters, you could go in with your OC holster only. (Hey Doc, your Serpa is showing!") :uhoh:

I cannot tell you how many guns have been stolen out of gym lockers!!!

Remember.. locks keep out honest people. It simply lets them know the locker is taken. Criminals go to gyms all the time and use bolt cutters or the "rap" combination locks so that they pop open.

You will have a better chance of keeping your valued possessions in your trunk.

And for the Love of God... do not place your keys on the community key board!! I have takens calls where people take the keys and go enter your car.

I don't use combination locks at the gym. That being said, anything could technically be used as a weapon. I could use my lifting gloves to slap somebody, my gym bag straps to hang or strangle someone, my lock to throw at somebody , my shoes to also throw, or use as a blungant(sp) on somebody, my socks would also work to strangle somebody. I could even put my lock, inside my socks! That'd be like some kind of midevil nunchucka....

Do we REALLY have to be subjected to the Gay National Anthem on a gun board such as this? I cannot get the bloody thing out of my head, indeed, and am even doing the actions! Not a pretty sight! Thanks a bunch, Hank!

I guess coffee cups should be banned as well; just in case Vin Diesel comes in...
That was a tea cup. But if Riddick can kill you with a tea cup, a coffee cup can't be difficult.

I stand corrected...

It's worth it, TrueBrit if we can save Desertdoc.

Good job hank!

Did you use the self timer on the camera when you posed for each shot?
