Manassas police are searching for the suspect in the shooting death of a man Saturday morning. Robert A. Briscoe Jr., 18, of no fixed address, is wanted for one court of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of robbery and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to a news release issued late Saturday night.
Police say Briscoe should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen near Va. 234 and U.S. 1 in Dumfries, said Sgt. Tim Neumann, police spokesman.
Around 1 a.m., Officer D.W. Hylton found an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk in the 8700 block of Weems Road, Neumann said. Rescue workers tried but were unable to resuscitate the man while en route to the hospital.
Police are withholding the victim's information until family members are notified.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was shot during an armed robbery, Neumann said. The victim was walking with another man, who was also shot at but not injured.
Police said Briscoe is a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 165 pounds, with blue eyes and blond, buzz cut hair.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Manassas City Crime Solvers at 703-330-0330. Callers don't have to give their name, just the information, and could earn up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
