Being that they are form-fitting holsters, they offer at least a modicum of retention. The screw adjustable tension can be tightened to make it even more difficult for someone (and you) to pull it out. The forward cant on the holster makes it difficult for someone standing behind you to pull it out. If they’re not in your pants with you, they would have to pull forward and up to get it out. That said, it’s not too terribly difficult to get it out.

I just got a Serpa for my Sig Revolution 1911 because Milt Sparks and several other holster makers don’t have the dummy to bone the leather, the gun is too new.

Can you recommend a holster manufacurer then that has a quality holster with a thumb break? I was forwarded to Milt Sparks by a man who had one, he concelaed however, and I WAS impressed with the quality of the thing. I had concerns about open carrying a gun without a thumb break, but as we agree open carrying alone deters a criminal, is this really that valid of a concern?

I am trying to find a holster so I can stop walking to 711 and the like with a gun tucked in the front of my pants... :?

I think of Galco as my fall-back holster. Pricey, but good quality. Some come with some sort of special lining that's supposed to better on the finish. And the leather's rock hard, the way G Gordon Liddy says they ought to be.

I have a Black Hills Leather holster with thumb break (Lining 10 bucks more)for my XD 45 Tactical. It was tight for a few weeks, but perfect now. The total was about $100 or so, shipping + handling + lining. http://www.bhlstore.com/

Yes, its a valid concern, IMO. Likely, maybe not, but when OCing, added retention is a good idea.
