Where the hell do they get off "locking down the town" and not allowing the citizens to move about? Kinda violates several of the Amendments.

:what::what::what:

Goes to show that as an individual you should be prepared to defend yourself from any and all persons attempting to harm or kill you. With respect to LEO, they are primates like the rest of us. With all the fears, and idea's akin to human nature.

Not uncommon when an investigation of this magnitude is underway. Have you ever been in a bank when it is robbed? Or walked in just after it was and they hadn't locked the doors yet? The investigating officers will be contacting everyone they can trying to piece together the "actor's" movements, if they can as well as gathering any possible witness information before they leave or their "memories" are tainted by Press interviews.

For the record, it appears that the shooter was not really a Deputy, he is described as a Department Employee and a part time city police officer. In a town of 2,000 people, often there are more "part time officers" than full time. Often they are ill trained as the city relies on the OJT method of training.

You can detain all suspects but not witnesses against their will. The whole town is suspect? And the mayor is not a LEO with authority to detain.

Tell that to the Mayor of a small (spell that Podunk) town in Wisconsin that is noted for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, etc. Probably half of those "detained" are relatives, friends, or at the least contributors to his campaign.

Wisconsin ain't California.

Regardless of the magnitude of the investigation, It is not legal to detain citizens without probable cause. And screw their investigation if they are breaking the law themselves.
