Anyone else see the anti-Chap Peterson political commercial?

Chap Peterson voted for carrying concealed on college campuses.
Chap Peterson voted against a gun ban for libraries and recreational centers.
Chap Peterson voted against every gun ban proposed in legislature.

Do you want this man in your legislature?

My response:
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Welp, I did some quick googling and found Peterson's blog:

http://www.thestraightrecord.com/guns.htm

Seems like both he and Davis both have mixed views on the subject.

For the most part, candidates have been smart enough to leave this crap out of their platforms lately.

Who's the one who brought it back out? Who's running this ad?

My response, like yours, is "You BET your LIFE I do."

I hadn't heard of him till now. Perhaps a few contributions and a phone call to his opponent thanking him for letting you know where you send your money would be a good response.

Its pretty crazy for a republican to attack a democrat from the left, but Devolites-Davis really is farther to the left than Chap Peterson on this issue. She was the one who's big gun show loophole press conference the VCDL attended in greater numbers than her supporters last year.

Actually Chap isn't a pure gun rights supporter but he isn't a ardent antigunner either. Between the 2 I'd choose Chap.

I heard a Devolites-Davis commecial last night where the issues were all about guns.

She bragged about voting against concealed carry in restaurants that sell alcohol.

(edited to note that JMDD was not the speaker, it was a male voice on the commercial)

After seeing the ad earlier today, I sent Chap an email letting him know that I support him and will be getting a bumper sticker for my car (I don't live in his district, but I drive through it).

I'd encourage everyone else to send him an email and let him know that they support him. It would be good if he can realize that being a pro-gun politician is a good thing!

Is it a DD-sponsored ad, though, or it is it one or another political party/entity?

I just saw this ad for the first time last night. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but it was a perfect example of the complete ignoranceof guns thatanti-gunners display time and time again. When they flashed their different bullet points (truly no pun intended) across the screen, they had a gun shoot a"bullet" by. What they actually had zip by was an entire round of ammunition: bullet, casing, primer ect. It honestly made me laugh, but it was still a reminder of the level of ignorance these people bring with them tothe debateover gun ownership.

Actions have consequences. Sure Mrs. Davis has very sound negatives. However, politically speaking the cost of her defeat may have bigger implications for us, particularly if we lose Republican control of the Senate.

Our bills are currently entombed in the Courts of Justice committee there. While Ken Stolle is no friend to gun owners, he is at least a moderate. Unfortunately for us, the democrats on the panel make up the uber-socialist wing of the democratic party.

Puller, Saslaw, Marsh, Howell, Lucas, Reynolds. They would gain both the majority on the committee and chairmanship.

So, while no improvements will be made under Ken Stolle's chairmanship, he would at least vote with the majority to maintain the status quo. The same cannot be said for a CoJ committee chaired by Puller, Saslaw, Marshor Howell...

Gun control would sail through that hypothetical committee and we could lose quite a bit of real estate. So sure Chap might have some better positions, butthe overall cost of his victory could prove quite high to us.

Damned if you do damned if you don't. If DD wins we get another gun show loophole bill, and a guaranteed anti gun vote. If Chap wins there is a possibility of a progun vote but also the possibility of a Chairman Saslaw (i.e. big anti) on the Senate Courts of Justice committee.

I can't control the committee appointments.

I can control who I vote for.

I'm voting AGAINST the politician who smugly announces an anti-gun posture.

If the Virginia legislature falls under the control of the Democrats - and it probably will - we need more democrats like Chap Peterson.

Remember some of us thought we needed Democrats like Jim Webb as well.

Let's not forget that Allen did the exact same thing. All he did was have his staff answer the phone, nod approvingly and not much else, if anything.

The stateand federal offices are the same in principle, but not in the details.

I disagree with the previous comments that they cannot affect the committee appointments. We can if we keep the senate from falling into the hands of Saslaw, Janet Howell, Puller, Marsh and their ilk.

While I was eating lunch today, JMDD's commercial appeared on Channel 7 news.

Complete with high-tech graphic pictures of guns, and bashing Chap Peterson for his votes on pro-gun issues.

JMDD appeared at the end of the commecial with her smug acknowledgement of her approval of the commercial.

I so definitely will not vote for her.
