Depends, whats the age limit on powder? I'd assume it's 18, since its used for rifles and shotguns too, but it never hurts to be sure. Although I'm not sure where I'd keep it...damn dorm rules (I'm pretty sure gunpowder would fall under their 'dangerous ordinance' prohibition). Although I do have a neat felt hat with a feather I could wear...if I hadn't left it at home...darn :(
Hmm... maybe the question to ask is: If I hide it, will they find it? :)

Amazing the things I was able to squirrel away in my dorm room... I found many creative uses for duct tape.

Well, hding some contraband is merely against the rules, but improperly storing gunpowder is hazardous. Think, than decide.

That is a good point that I think I took for granted didn't need mentioning. But with people getting shot in the leg by dogs these days... you never know.

What would be the point of buying gunpowder during Ammo Week/Day and then storing it in your dorm room?

That doesn't make any sense. It's lacking any rational thought.

Man, Buy-a-Gun Day, Ron Paul Moneybomb, and now Nat. Ammo Day. My wallet feels like it just spent the night in a cell with Mike Tyson after he ate viagra-laced PF Changs.

I'm pretty sure I've recouped the money I spent in pulling that together, just by shooting more .22LR thanI have .45ACP.

Very nice setup you have there, Gunny. I just wish Colt made a conversion unit that would work on my Series 80 guns without having to neuter them.

I have often bought ammunition for guns I didn't own yet. Right now I have a small stash of 10mm ammo (and once fired brass) just waiting for the day I can find an affordable S&W 610.

And National Ammo Day/Week is NOT about buying ammunition you need. It's about buying extra ammo, over and above what you need or usually buy. It's about buying a type of ammo you don't usually buy. Such as getting a couple of boxes of GoldenWhatever self-defense ammo instead of the usual FMJ rangeblasters.

Next year I'll be 21 for ammo week. I wonder what the cashier will think when I walk up to the counter with a cart full of ammo, Red Dawn, and the director's cut of Boondock Saints....:what:<---I bet it will be something like that.

Then again, ammo might be covered under my university's firearms and 'dangerous ordiance' ban...

Well... if North Korea decides to parachute killer squirrels into Washington state, you'll be a good first line of defense.

You can buy rifle and shotgun ammo at 18. You can also buy .22 Rimfire (and some other handgun calibers)IF you say it's for a rifle only. That's why they ask you at Wal-Mart how old you are when you buy ammo.

Good luck! I've been looking for one of those for over a year. That's a sweet revolver.

Nah. I don't know why you feel the need to just make up stuff. :uhoh:

It's about buying any ammo...

A brief explanation - What is National Ammo Day?

[line]

November 19 is National Ammo Day.

It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition. You buy ammunition. 100 Rounds a person.

The goals of Ammo Day:

The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known--by voting with your dollars!

There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!

The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits, trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it! And we CAN help it by buying ammunition on November 19!

I didn't make up anything Hank. Now I'm sure of it. The T stands for Tool.

I just stated my feelings on the matter. Ya' know, MY OPINION of what's it's all about. I'm sorry that you are too bloody stupid to understand it as such. We ARE allowed to express our feelings and opinions here.

If you're going to celebrate something. then celebrate itby damn. Don't do the same old boring slag you always do. Do something different. Something to HONOR the day.

You can buy a brick of craptastic el cheapo .22 Long Rifle anytime. But some of the good stuff. It'ds National Ammo Day for goodness sake. TREAT YOURSELF!

NOTICE. Everything in the above message is my own personal opinion (except for the fact that Hank is a Tool) and should not be construed or considered as anything else.

Gee Hank why didn't quote this thread? It's rather obvious that I was stating my opinions.

The way I look at it is this... National Ammo Day/Week is NOT about buying ammunition you NEED. We never really need a reason to buy ammo. But it's about buying EXTRA ammo. Over and above what you need or usually buy. And it's about buyingammo you don't usually buy. Such as getting a couple of boxes of GoldenWhatever defense ammo instead of the usual FMJ rangeblasters. For those of us who buy ammo on a regular basis, NAD/NAW is about buying a little more than our average amount.

I never could understand people who own a very nice firearm and seem toconstantly only have a partial box of ammo on hand. You buy extra batteriesdon't you? You buy more that one roll of toilet paper at a time. Don't you?Why not have a little (or a lot of) extra ammo squirreled away.

Did you notice how I prefaced that one with "The way I look at it"? That means what followed was my personal views on the matter. Sorry I didn't feel like typing all of it all over again over here in this thread. And everyone can tell you read it because you made one of your little snide comments after it then too.

Ya knowI feel sorry for Hank Trool. I don't know if it's really so much sorrow as it is pity. I imagine it sucks, so much to be him. All cooped up where ever he is. Ashamed of his surroundings and of the circumstances that comprise his life. Not being able to get out and open carry like the rest of us. Wanting so much to be able to do all the things we talk about here. To be able to do the things we actually do. Instead of being trapped in front of a keyboard watching the worldpass him by.His only link with the real world is tograb an occasional glimpse of it through his computer monitor as he reads every word of every thread from every state. Wow! The number of hours he puts in here, absorbing our every word, savoring our every experience, must be staggering. The devotion he has to this forum should not go unnoticed. The mere fact that hededicates his entire waking life to us is a tribute that few mortals ever attain.Ahhh, but that's the glory ofAl Gore's internet. Thanks to good ol' Al, even people like Hank Trool can seem normal.

And here it is, National Ammo Week and he can't play along. He's probably not even allowed to own a firearm. Maybe he'll grow up some day and his Mommy will let him have a BB gun. Maybe she'll even let him have the one that looks like a cross between a 1911 and a High Point. You know the clunky one with the bright orange muzzle. Oh well, Christmas IS coming. Maybe he'll even get a holster!

:celebrate
