Yep, it's rusting on me. Real light, it's barely starting to change color, but it's definitely rust. I've broken out the bronze brush more than usual and picked up some stronger bore cleaner, hopefully it will disseapear soon.

Do you have any Rugers in .40?? If so how does it shoot??

I'm looking at picking one up and am trying to decide between Glock, XD, or Ruger...nothing else is affordable for me:(
I just recently parted with my ruger P89DC (my very first firearm), i really enjoyed it! i purchased it from my friend for $150.00 and it was very reliable. With regards to the rust, MILITEC-1!!!!!! this stuff is great! I use it on all my firearms and my knives too.

Also, keep saving and saving, it took me six months to save for my sig P229 elite. I could have gone and purchased a glock or an xd or another ruger (by no means am i bashing here, ive owned a ruger, currently own a glock and can see myself owning an xd), but i really wanted the sig. And shortly after i received my B.S. (jokes welcome) i purchased my sig as a graduation present to myself. The point of this is to never hold yourself back and if you want it deep down, then it will be worth every penny and all those months you spent saving!

anyways........

happy carrying,

Jason, your completely right. However, at present I am saving for college/ar15, so I am looking to spend 500 or less.

Good to hear you got your SIG and congrats on the BS too;)

OC'd again yesterday:) to run some friends down town, then to the self serve car wash. Going to be getting my doubletap/gold dot here soon so I can get the Glock in on the OC.

Yup. I can completely understand that. I reload, so ammunition prices aren't quite as big a deal. If I didn't I certainly wouldn't be looking to shoot DT every time I go out, even the PMC ammunition is pricey.

I'm 18 and I OC whenever its not a school day. So far so good. I've only been 18 since Nov. 23, but as of yet the only people who have said anything are people that already know me. I've walked through malls, stores, gas stations, casinos etc. with no problems. In fact today was the first time I noticed people even looking at me funny. But I think it may have had moreto do with the Chihuahua I had in my arms.

Good to hear your OCing. I've started OCing fairly often, and started a OC log of sorts in the AK section.

I would imagine that the rat dog would attract more attention than the sidearm:D

Seriously, he's right. Go for it. It really ain't as nerve-wracking as I would have thought.

biggest PITA up here is that I can't CC unless I'm out in the field, and even then it gets picky. Sucks in the winter. Can't wait to be 21.

'ey Nova, if you want, I'll be in, er, NoVa :uhoh: later tonight, and POSSIBLY tomorrow for a while.

Maybe you can have an OC buddy.

Or, see if you can get a battle-buddy to go with you the first couple of times if you need it.

I know I OC'd with a buddy of mine the first few times (his first times, too)

Hey nova & AbNo - have you checked the Virginia page fothe NOVA Dinner this month?

January 13 @ 5:00PM

Foster's Grille
(703) 396-8282
Bristow Shopping Center
10266 Bristow Center Dr.
Bristow, VA 20136

It's a fairly new shopping center at the corner of Nokesville Rd and Linton Hall Rd. One of the anchor stores is a Harris Teeter Grocery Store.
The NOVA contingent always gets together once a month for dinner, and often arranges lunch or weekend brunch meet-ups too. If you need "cover" for your OC experience, there is nothing better than blending into a crowd.

stay safe.

I'm looking to pick up a good sherpa as well.

He might be for hire:

Just giving ya a hard time!

I think how you present yourself, i.e. dress, demeanor, etc... will have a lot of bearing on how people react to you being armed.

thanks, I'll keep a lookout for it and see if I'm free. I'm starting back at college soon so I'll have to watch the dates.

Ohhhhh. Well if I would known he was for hire I woulda passed on the plastic version! haha I wonder what the draw time is when using onna those:celebrate

Seriously though, I have been able to do some fairly serious OCing, albeit less lately due to my work schedule and the cold.

It's great, it's legal, and nobody seems to bat an eye, most people don't even notice it there.

Thanks for all the help getting there guys,

Jon

I've only open carried a few times since November or so (When I got my Glock), and I've had the police called on me twice; once left out in the cold for an hour, detained by merit of "They had my gun and my driver's license, and I wasn't leaving without them", the second time physically detained in handcuffs in the back of WalMart while the trooper went off to run my info.

(I filed a complaint with the PSP on the second incident. I just got a response today. The barracks commander said everything the trooper did was A-OK! I guess I was too scary for him, even after he had my Glock in his waistband and my LTCF and entire wallet in his hand, and had been patted down twice.)

that smells funny. What reason did they have to cuff you? Might be time to contact a lawyer?

One reason I am glad I live in AK, never been hassled about carrying, and I'm sooooo happy about that.

I'm 19 and I've carried in a good number of places all over Vermont and have never had an issue. Maybe it's just because my hair is already starting to thin, which makes me look older :(. I've only had one person say anything (to my face, anyway), and it was from a guy my age who was just curious about legality and stuff like that. However, I do get a decent amount of weird looks.
