Conservatives in Va. Senate target Stosch

Conservative Republicans in the Virginia Senate are plotting a leadership
coup, blaming moderate bosses -- among them, a veteran Henrico County lawmaker
    -- for the Democratic takeover.

"The party needs new leadership -- from the very top to the very bottom,"
    said Sen. Ken Cuccinelli, R-Fairfax.
"There will be a leadership challenge in the Senate, [and] the details of
that need to be worked out. If you're in the current leadership, what's the
    rationale for staying there?

The top target of conservatives is Senate Republican Leader Walter A. Stosch,
R-Henrico, who this week apparently started soliciting support for another
term as head of the GOP caucus.
In a letter to fellow Republicans, Stosch said his goal is to unite the
reduced GOP ranks into a "finely tuned team." He also said Republicans will
remain "spokesmen for both families and business."

Cuccinelli, whose 92-vote re-election margin is headed for a recount, did not
rule out the possibility that he would oppose Stosch. Sen. Stephen D.
Newman, R-Lynchburg, also is mentioned as a potential challenger.
Republicans this month lost the Senate after a decade, slipping from a 23-17
advantage. When the General Assembly convenes in January, Democrats will
    control the Senate, 21-19.

Conservative Republicans increased their numbers within the Senate caucus,
picking up a seat in the Roanoke area and another in the Winchester area. But
it's not clear if they can muster the 10 votes necessary to tip the leadership
    elections.

The Republican caucus will meet this month to fill four positions: leader,
the job currently held by Stosch; whip, a GOP president pro tempore, or
    vice-leader, and chairman.

More press reports of impending coup by Sen Cuccinelli:

    SNIP

Unlike some of his Republican counterparts, Mr. Cuccinelli did not abandon
his Republican credentials in order to match the region's Democratic lean in
    recent elections.

Now he is working with fellow conservatives in the Senate to replace the
chamber's Republican leaders, including Majority Leader Walter A. Stosch,
Henrico Republican. Conservatives have blamed some Senate Republicans, including
Mr. Stosch, for bucking the party's tenets of less government and less
    taxation.

    Cuccinelli needs help!

He sent a letter to his donors asking for additional help.

His opponent is bringing in Democrat lawyers to find 93 votes they can get disqualified.

He asked for cash to help fight it. I'll be sending some.

    Anybody else?

Ken has been a real 2A supporter in the VA General Assembly.
I'll make you an offer: I will argue and fight for all of your rights, if you will do the same for me. That is the only way freedom can work. We have to respect all rights, all the time--and strive to win the rights of the other guy as much as for ourselves.

If I am equal to another, how can I legitimately govern him without his express individual consent?

There is no human being on earth I hate so much I would actually vote to inflict government upon him.
