Shoplifters threaten guard with gun
A man threatened a security guard with a gun as he attempted to stop a group of shoplifters from leaving a department store in Rancho San Diego Tuesday night.
The guard saw two men and two women taking merchandise at the Kohl's store on Jamacha Road near Willow Glen Drive just after 9:30 p.m., said sheriff's Lt. William Donahue.
The guard stopped one of the women as she left the store and was questioning her when one of the men came out and pointed a silver handgun at him, Donahue said. The group drove away in a silver Nissan Sentra or Nissan Ultima with tinted windows.Some merchandise was recovered in the parking lot, Donahue said.
The guard should have pulled his radio and defended himself...
