Why the focus on stores??

I've been carefully following the content of this site for the last few weeks, and notice that there are a disproportionate number of reports of OC "encounters" in stores and malls.
As a newbie to this subject, I have been wondering why there isn't more discussion about the times folks OC in non retail locations like parks/bus stations/in a cab/at the ski slopes/ museums/movie theaters/the zoo, parades, ball games and similar places. Why so many retail store settings?

Likely because those are place where managers and store-policy makers actually have a little say in whether you can be there or not. If they demand you leave and you don't, you are tresspassing and can be arrested. They can't really do that in most other public places, though your examples of the zoo, museum and such would apply. As for ball games, it has been covered that they do pat-downs at the local stadiums and restrict our constitutional rights, even though they're owned by the state... they claim it's okay to do this because they're leased by a private company.

Keep reading. There are stories of OCing in a park, OCing while walking around in town. There are good encounters and bad. There are discussions about stadiums and stories about DOL offices. But in the end there are more stores and shopping activities because that is the way it is in life. I would like to see more of the positive OC trips reported though.

Maybe I should have waited to ask that question. Just read the (excellent) account of OC in a museum. Hope too see more of that spectrum of encounters.

Not trying to be critical of where folks OC since I don't, instead I'm trying to understandif this conceptcan meld withmy idea of personaldefence.Not convinced(tactically) yet.
