Alright. Started a new thread so I don't flood the old one with pictures:

Go to http://www.mirc.com/get.html

1: Select 'Download mIRC'

6: Make sure 'Close this dialog box when download completes' is unchecked. (If you forget to do this, the box will just go away after the download is complete. The installation executable should be on your desktop)
7: After download is complete select 'Run'

20: Enter /server irc.slashnet.org into the command box, then press ENTER. I bunch of crazy text will scroll up the screen. Wait until it's done.

this is very helpful, but when I type in the "/server irc.slashnet.org" thing it won't connect.. a little dialogue box keeps popping up telling me it is unable to connect, and I can click OK or HELP... neither of which help me.

Do you have an IM address?

I don't see how there could be a problem. It connects just fine from here :p

Make sure you don't include the quotes. And also make sure you don't have a firewall or anything blocking the port IRC uses (usually 6667).

You could try connecting with the "Select Server" dialog in File->Select Server (Alt+E)

Select Slashnet from the list and then press 'Select'. Then 'OK'

Then you should try File->Connect (Or just click the lighting bolt icon in the toolbar)

Oh yeah. And try and see if you can ping the server.

Press Windows Key + R and type 'cmd' Then press OK. In the console window type ping irc.slashnet.org

It should say something like:
Pinging irc.slashnet.org [203.31.212.10] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 203.31.212.10: bytes=32 time=245ms TTL=50
Reply from 203.31.212.10: bytes=32 time=244ms TTL=50
Reply from 203.31.212.10: bytes=32 time=244ms TTL=50
Reply from 203.31.212.10: bytes=32 time=244ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 203.31.212.10:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 244ms, Maximum = 245ms, Average = 244ms

Hey guys, I have officially lost my ability to use IRC@work. The domain has been suspended from overusage or something. I still can't connect using the other methods (Xchat or Mirc) so I don't know what my next move will be.
