I was unable to find the current status of this bill.

Introduced by Rep. Daniel Acciavatti on May 15, 2007, to repeal the “gun-free zone” provision of the concealed pistol permit law, which prohibits those who have received a permit after meeting the background check and training requirements, from carrying a pistol in schools, day care facilities, sports stadiums or arenas, bars, bar/restaurants, places of worship, college dorms and classrooms, hospitals, casinos, entertainment facilities that hold more than 2,500, and courts.

Perhaps if it still has a chance, we can write our representatives...

I posted this back in May 2007,see link;http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/forum30/2618.htmlfor others' views on this.

I, like many other CPL holders, hope this goes thru.

:?Sorry for reposting, I hadn't heard of it until yesterday and got a little excited. Who would we write in support of this? My Congressman? Senator? I think congressman is for the house, so Bart Stupak (in Nothern Michigan)?

Please explain: Is this a Federal bill or a MI state bill? If this is a MI state bill, what can I do to help?

This is a State bill to eliminate certainrestrictions on concealed carryzones. Contact you state reps and let them know you are in favor of this bill. Now that the budget "crisis" is over they may have time to get back to it.

Last week, I contacted Rep Acciavatti who originally sponsored this bill and he told me that the Democratic controlled legislature is refusing to bring this one to a vote in the legislature. I also contacted Rep. Joe Hune (Livingston County) whose legal aid responded stating they were in support of this bill.

Rep Acciavatti also recommended contacting Rep Paul Condino who is the head of the Judiciary commttee which is where the bill is currently stalled.

I would encourage each of you to send a letter or email of encouragement to your representatives as well. It can only help.
