Visiting PA from FL

I have a resident CCW from FL. I will be visiting the Roxboro area next week. I checked all the boards and laws.

In the car I can have the gun loaded and concealed with my CCW?

What I have determined is that I can CC just like in FL but can I open carry? FL does not have provisions for open carry.

Yes, you can open carry, too. Two Pennsylvania Supreme Court decisions state that you can carry openly (even in Philadelphia since you do have a recognized license).

State law does not make open crry illegal, therefore it's legal.

Don't carry in state parks or court facilities. The Capitol Complex in Harrisburg is supposedly off-limits, too, likewise with school (K-12) property or casinoes.

Bars and stip clubs are okay (possibly in more ways than one).

With OC, there's the added benefit of not having to worry about a PA sheriff revoking your LTCF if they "feel" that OC is a sign of "bad character". Note that it is still a rare occurance regardless, but many on the other side of the OC/CC debate feel that we shouldn't (legally) OC because an overzealous sheriff will illegally revoke our LTCF and we'll be faced with a battle similar to Greg's to get it back.

Just to clarify: You will not be permitted to retain your firearm while in the Capitol Complex, but you will not be tackled and arrested for entering with one. There are lockboxes available to check your firearm, just as required at court facilities throughout the state. They are only available at the Commonwealth Ave. entrance (NE side of complex).

I OC'd in Harrisburg in October, while visiting the Capitol to lobby legislators on pending pro-gun legislation. I entered the Capitol, informed security that I needed to secure my firearm and was given a receipt. It was clear this was not 'routine' for them, but they accomodated me in a professional manner and without any hassle whatsoever.

Remember though, in PA you can only carry "firearms" by the definition of the law - unlike FL which allows "weapons" to be carried. Your CWP from FL will only cover handguns, SBS's** and SBR's** in PA concealed or in a vehicle.

It's interesting that it's actually easier to carry a handgun in PA than a knife...

But anyhow, isn't the prohibition against carrying long arms (I'm assuming that is to what you are referring) a hunting regulation and not a state law? I could very well be wrong, but I never really looked into that area of carry law...
