UPDATE 2 FEB 08:
I attended the House General Laws FOIA sub. last Thursday and they passed the bill by till next Thursday (7 FEB) - Del. Iaquinto chairs this sub, and seemed to take the issue of SSN privacy seriously as did the other members.
Interestingly, Del. Terry Suit, the new Chair of Gen. Laws Com. sits and votes on every subcommittee!
Action Item #1.1: Email Delegate Suit
Draft message:
TO: delTSuit@house.state.va.us
CC: delMSickles@house.state.va.us
SUBJECT: Please support HB 1088, SSN privacy for hunters, fishers, and boaters!
Dear Delegate Suit:
Please support Delegate Sickles HB 1088 to close the SSN privacy loophole in DGIF records that endangers privacy and security of all citizens!
Given that Article XI, § 4 of the Virginia Constitution explicitly secures the right to hunt & fish, it is unacceptable that the SSN privacy of hunters, fishers, and boaters must be compromised just because they choose to partake in their state constitutional rights.
Please let me know what you are going to do to make sure that HB 1088 is endorsed by your committee.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME

Action Item #2.1: If Terry Suit is your Delegate, please call her at (804) 698-1081 and tell her you want her to make sure HB 1088 passes out of her committee.
----
If you live, work, go to school in Virginia, or might EVER hunt, fish, or boat in Virginia, please act on this urgent action item[/b] to convince the Virginia House of Delegates FIOIA subcommittee to stop government publication of Social Security Numbers from the Virginia hunter/fisher/boater database!
This is urgent[/b] - the House FOIA subcommittee meets to consider Delegate Sickles’ HB 1088 on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008. The bill can be found at http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?081+sum+HB1088.
Non-residents, we need you on this one![/b] If you have no Virginia address, then either don’t put any address or tell the subcommittee that you will not hunt, fish, or boat in Virginia until this SSN loophole is closed!
