It looked to me like the world's quietest and most respectful observation of a protest in the history of mankind! i guess these folks get mad when opponents of their view outnumber them at thier OWN protest.

Who are Virginia's Legislators Protecting?

On January 21, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Virginia Center for Public Safety, Million Mom March Chapters of Virginia, and ProtestEasyGuns.com hosted a vigil at the State Capitol in Richmond to recognize and remember victims of gun violence in the Commonwealth of Virginia. People from across the state attended the vigil, including students, faculty, and family members from Virginia Tech.

Recent stories in the Washington Post, Richmond Times-Dispatch and at Richmondleaders.com have described how armed members of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and Students for Concealed Carry on Campus descended on the vigil and heaped abuse on those who engaged in a peaceful and silent “Lie-In” at the conclusion of the event. Now, for the first time, video footage of this harassment is available and can be viewed by clicking here.

On the same day as the vigil, the Senate Courts of Justice Committee heard testimony on S.B. 109, a bill that would have closed Virginian’s Gun Show Loophole. The loophole allows convicted felons, individuals adjudicated mentally defective, and other prohibited purchasers to buy guns from unlicensed sellers at these events without undergoing a background check.

Testifying in favor of the bill were Col. Gerald Massengill, the Chairman of the Virginia Tech Review Panel; Virginia Secretary of Public Safety John W. Marshall, State Police Superintendent Col. W. Steven Flaherty; and family members of the Virginia Tech victims. Testifying against the bill were the NRA and the VCDL.

Two days later, nine members of the committee—Democrats John Edwards and Roscoe Reynolds and Republican Senators Stolle, Obenshain, Cuccinnelli, McDougle, Norment, Quayle, and Hurt—sided with the NRA and VCDL and voted against closing the Gun Show Loophole, killing S.B. 109.

Virginia’s Gun Show Loophole remains open. As Col. Massengill has noted, future Chos can easily buy guns at Virginia’s gun shows no questions asked if they are turned down by licensed firearms dealers.

WHO ARE VIRGINIA'S LEGISLATORS PROTECTING?

To contact your delegates and senators in Richmond to voice your concerns, call 1-800-889-0229 or 804-698-1990.

Typical anti-gunner crap. Notice that viewers are unable to make comments on thier little puff piece. "We'll tell you what to think! We don't need to hear any rebuttal from any one!" Of course nothing is said about the ridicule, insults, and nasty comments heaped on firearms rights supporters during the Virginia Senate hearings!

Wow, almost seemed evenly balanced. Two or three times they zoomed in on someone carrying a "Here lies diarmed vitims" poster. They said we were disruptive but except for a few laughs off in the distance I didn't notice any disruption. It showed most counter demonstrators standing quietly in respect for those killed. If this was meant to be a hit piece they fell short, mostly because we didn't give them anything to hit us with.... As far as us not having a permit, we didn't need one, we were spectators to their spectacle. I don't think you need a permit for that otherwise no one could come watch your demonstration.

I was standing next to one of the many state troopers present. I overheard his radio, some dispatcher was calling for "all available officers". I thought that was pretty funny, we did have them out gunned and you never know about those crazy 2A people :^).

Now I'm disappointed that I didn't get my face in the video but I did meet the (blue shirt) guy with the Rock Arms 1911 in a Serpa holster! Again, I was almost famous! We met for a few seconds, who are you again? I know I know you :^). You were at the VCDL speech at VaTech.

I don't have to (but can't wait to, lol) watch this video to be able to forsee how laughable it's going to be. "Heaped abuse"? Gosh that was probably the most passive abusive group I've ever seen. Heck if we had been guard dogs we'd be licking the anti's faces and showing them how to get into the safe in the house! Of course they still call it a loop hole and are still trying to say that's how Cho got his guns, so you have to consider the intelligence of the source.

I'm sorry for the losses of the two mothers who spoke, and for those who lost loved ones at Tech. I'm glad for those two mothers that the killers of their sons were brought to justice and sentenced to decades in prison.

Regarding the events of the day, I think it's quite telling that they provided only the video and information they did, totalling about thirty seconds of audio most of which was silence.

Of course, those of us who were there know that this is completely bogus. They were recording everything and they didn't even have offensive footage to show what was happening.

I understand they tried to have the police make us stop standing there watching them and the police made it clear that they constituted a spectacle, and should be glad they drew a crowd.

Problem is, with America's "justice" system, the killerswill probably be out in much less time...and then kill someone else as per the usual routine.

Proven criminals should be killed right up front, plain and simple, no messing with them. And the ones already in prisons -- especially the gangsters -- should be, too, and done overnight....which would leave PLENTY of uncrowded cells for "first-timers" to see the error of their ways and change for the better. If not, at some point down the road THEY would go, too.

It's so simple.

I would personally demonstrate this concept -- instead of just talking about it -- if I were made "Crime Czar" (showing what that term REALLY should mean) and given a free hand to deal with crime.

Sorry...just another fantasy.

...but I''d take the job in a heartbeat!

I agree with you wholeheartedly Cloud. Those who show a willingness to take the life of another through violent crime and not in a defensive situationhas forfeited their life in turn IMHO

"comments for this video have been disabled"

That's typical of the ant-gun crowd, silence the opposition so the lies can be propagated with no one questioning it. This kind of reminds me of the ytube video someone sent me a link to. It featured our very own Naked Shoplifter scaring the anti-gun speakersout of speaking WITH A VIDEO CAMERA. They actually canceled the meeting because Nankedshoplifter was unwilling to sign a "release" agreeing to keep what was discussed in the meeting PRIVATE.

Remind you of any other groupwith tyrannicaltendencies that you studied in high school history ?

I watched the Hearings on another site and was shocked to hear law enforcement officer, after law enforcement officer admit that they couldn't recall a SINGLE case of a felon buying a firearm at a gun show and committing a crime with it.

I sure hope they didn't pay anyone to produce that video.
You'd think if they wanted to influence legislators, they might do well to spell those legislators' names correctly?

Without us, they'd have had about two dozen spectators, twenty of whom were invited press. THAT's what they want. They could be victims of apathy.

One of the women spoke of her son being killed with a stolen gun. How again would this bill have helped that case?

Note they quote Massengil with his tired repetition of the governor's statement that if you opposed this restriction of property rights, you want to arm felons.

Anyone ... know any felons who'll wait for the next gun show to go buy a weapon?

Perhaps the video should be reposted but with a different caption such as. "Gun Owners Peacefully Protesting"
Or just repost it so everyone searching for theirs will also find this one with new and appropriate text/comments. But this one would allow commenting :^). I don't know how to do that but I'd like to see it.

Exactly! I was at this event also and in the committe room when the bill was being heard. While the pro gun crowd remained silent and respectful it was not the same with the anti crowd. Next time I will take a camera so I can post on you tube what the other side does. Im still kicking myself for not taking one this time:banghead:

I'm starting to think that every second amendment proponent better have one of these with him 24/7. This is just one of the products that I have found out about from this site. I feel rather dumb admitting this, but I never thought I would need to carry any type of recorder just because I open carry. That in itself is asad commentary on our country.

The flip is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and takes a quality one hour video.

Gosh, that was the most boring video I've ever seen. If that's the worst you Pro-gun guys can do, I hope to never meet you in a dark alley :uhoh::lol:

I honestly think this to be a great idea. Show the antis speaking and how the pro-rights crowd sits there respectfully, and then show the Pro-rights speakers and how the anti's behave like 4-year olds and heckle.

Ironic how the 4-year olds always claim we push and shove and intimidate and are disruptive, but in reality it was an anti who laid hands on one of us that day in Richmond, and who heckled PVC when he spoke.

They claim we're violent, until they don't get their way and then hypocrisy ensues.

The more ruckuss the anti gunners make about this "loophole", the more they are educating criminals and potential nutcases about how they might be able to find one of these unliscenced dealers at a gun show, the higher the probability that such a dealer will be found by said criminals, and the higher the probablity that one of them will buy from one and use the guns in crimes. If the antis had kept their mouths shut, most criminals and nuts would still be in the dark about this teeny weeny itsy bitsy loophole. What tards...

I guess Peta isn't the only socialist group censoring the opposition. At peta2.com message boards they ban anyone who dares question anything Peta states. Peta is also about 99% lies and garbage and cover-ups. Seems to be the trend in any group where the truth hurts too much. It is a shame so many people are stupid enough to buy into these ideologies- can you say " baaaaaaaahhh"?
