I want one, but have no idea what on earth I would do with it.... But it seems kewl to get one! Lynnwood gun has single shots fairly reasonable and you can buy them piece by piece too. Guess I could mount it on my boat or something.:p

I too have looked at these, thinking it would be very cool to have. But it would be something I wouldn't shoot very often, at $2 a shot. I just can't, as of yet, justify spending several thousand on one, when I still need to get so many other guns for my collection.

I still need to get a .223 and probably .308/30-06, as well as a new shotgun, and so many other handguns. It will have to sit back there in my dreams until I start to run out of other things to buy.

I agree that a boat mount for it would be cool, if not a bit too extreme.

Yeah... just think you can get all of those calibers (including multiple gauges of shotgun) all in the Saiga series of rifles! ;)

Yeah, I've been looking at those for a while, but I also like the idea of getting the single-shot .50BMG AR-15 upper. I mean, if you're going to go "Fifty", why not go BMG?... If you're just going with a bigger caliber in the same'ish length, I'd go for the .458 SOCOM. At the same time, you can get the AA .50Beowolf upper from Midway for around $700+shipping.

They are impressive weapons and a heck of a lot of fun. I'm in the same boat as sitrep though. Too many weapons I would use a lot (and could actually afford to shoot fairly regularly) that I don't have that I want to get first. For those who can afford them, more power to you and I'll hope that you'll let me squeeze the trigger a few times when we are out shooting (of course I'll offer to pay for any ammo I use :)).

They certainly are interesting, if not completely impractical for almost all of us (acknowledging that impractical doesn’t make us want them any less!) The biggest downside I see, bigger than the high price of the gun and ammunition, is finding a range big enough to safely shoot one. The 50 BMG needs a LOT of room and a serious backstop.

Never fired, a BMG would still be a thumb in Sarah Brady's and Hag Hillary's eye and the money would go to a good organization - definitely no-compromise pro-gun.

SV, save your money and buy something that you can take somewhere and shoot. I've owned a semi-auto Barrett .50 cal, and shot numerous other .50 cal weapons including a M2. They are a lot of fun, but most ranges will not allow any .50 cals or belt fed. (I am responsible for at least 1banning them, although it was okay at the time).

It's become an issue like the houses near an airport. People complain about the noise, and the ranges respond by banning them. It then becomes a near useless toy, and it is getting harder to find a place that will let you shoot them.

Btw John Hardin, I have also been fortunate enought to get to fire 2 different Lahti's, and a Solothurn 20mm. Great fun, but once again nowhere to shoot them.

I bet. My wife and I were at Wade's in Bellevue one slow day when somebody brought in an M2 on a tripod and shot off a few rounds. *very* neat. BOOOM! {dust wafts from ceiling} BOOOM! BOOOMBOOOM!

That sort of thing could make me want to move back to the Nevada desert...

I saw the 20mm take down, but don't feel like saving up the $10k to buy the single shot, plus the blasted thing is nearly as tall as me! OTOH, mounting THAT on my boat would be a trip.

Of course I could get some quality well casing and make a small black powder swivel cannon.
