FORT DRUM, N.Y., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- A domestic disturbance incident at Fort Drum in New York ended with police shooting and killing a 10th Mountain Division Army soldier.

Fort Drum officials said a military police officer and a civilian officer arrived at Staff Sgt. Dustin McMillen's home after receiving a 911 call citing a domestic disturbance, New York Newsday reported Sunday.

McMillen, 29, then allegedly pulled a handgun on the officers and demanded their weapons. Two other officers arrived and McMillen was shot twice, after which he was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting was still under investigation.

"On behalf of Maj. Gen. Michael Oates and all the soldiers and civilians who call Fort Drum home, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Staff Sgt. Dustin McMillen," Lt. Col. Paul Swiergosc of the Fort Drum Public Affairs Office said in a statement
