I highly doubt it - but even if you could you would have to arrange to have it exported through an FFL witha licenseto export.

If you could somehow get the right to possess a gun of any sort there it would be easier to buy it there.

+1

Then there's always the whole question of getting it back into the United States when your tour's up, as well.

*edit - I'd say buy one over there (if you can) then sell it over there before you leave.

I wouldn't bring it for a third reason, the laws over there can make your stay, a
very long one. Unlike your rights here, you are at the mercy of local system.
They have locked up people for having trace amounts of maryjane on bottom
of shoe even when admitting it was probably picked up by walking on carpet at airport. If you have to have one over there, I would suggest mailing it to the
US embasy, and keeping it there as well.

In case anybody would consider this - DO NOT MAIL ANY FIREARM OVERSEAS. You will not only become a felon for illegaly exporting a firearm but quite likely, if you arrive at your destination before the US authorities catch you the authorities at your destination will probably smack you down (literally in some countries) on your arrival.

VERY, VERY BAD IDEA!!!!

I second the notion of buying a firearm locally in Dubai if it is legal and then reselling slightly before your return trip, maybe to the poor SOB who replaces you? I was talking to some of the contractors who lived off the base in Kuwait. They were saying that even though firearms are illegal in Kuwait that there were ranges and gun shops everywhere. So just because it is illegal doesn't mean it is enforced.

No not a good thing to do.

But on the other hand you will love it there, it's a very nice place to visit. I am trying to get a job there now so I can bring the family with me. The people there are verynice. I am jealous of you;)
