Its 18 to buy shotgun/hunting rifles and 21 to buy handguns right?

and it is 18 to open carry a firearm and 21 to conceal carry "with a CWP"

but you can do Private deal's and sell a firearm to a 19 year old right? ...hmm im having second thoughts.. but is this legal?

You pretty much have the gist of it. In Virginia, an 18 year old can buy any firearm including handguns through a private sale. Handgun ammo can be problematic because you do have to be 21 to buy it from a dealer.
