    Suspect Killed in Home Invasion
Last Edited: Monday, 03 Mar 2008, 3:04 PM CST Created: Monday, 03 Mar 2008, 3:04 PM CST
A man identified as a suspect in a home invasion that happened on Sunday night died after being transported to Princeton Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police said Eric Moore, 23, is believed to have been a masked gunman who broke into a home in the 900 block of Apple Drive in the Forestdale area.

Police said Moore fired shots at the resident who was luckily not hit but in turn returned fire. The suspect was hit and fled the scene. Moore was apparently taken to the hospital by friends and later identified as the suspect in the home invasion.

Further investigation revealed that the homeowner had broken up a fight the night before at the Platinum Club in Birmingham that the suspect had been involved in. Police discovered that the suspect had inquired about the address of the homeowner prior to forcing his way in.

At the time of a press release from the sheriff’s office, information indicated the shooting was justified and the investigation is ongoing.

    And there is this report...http://www.wsbtv.com/news/15476171/detail.html

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- [/b]Authorities say a homeowner who apparently was targeted in a home invasion Sunday night exchanged gunfire with a suspect who was killed. Randy Christian, a Jefferson County sheriff's spokesman, said the shooting death of 23-year-old Eric Moore of Birmingham appeared to be justified. Moore died a short time later at a Birmingham hospital. Christian said the investigation determined Moore was the masked gunman who kicked in the door of a residence in Forestdale and fired shots at the occupant. The homeowner was not hit. Christian said the homeowner broke up a fight Saturday night at the Platinum Club in Birmingham that Moore had been involved in. He said Moore had inquired about the homeowner's address before the home was invaded.

Wow!! He actually tracked him down and tried to kill him. That is scary stuff right there. No good deed goes unpunished I guess. Glad to hear the homeowner was the victor. I wonder if this will affect his 'good samaritan' ways in the future. I hope not.

Wow, just wow. Certainly gives one pause.

So, um, who's the ass-hat who gave away the homeowner's address?

Otherwise, seems like a good shoot.

Well, you never know, maybe said ass-hat didn't like the would-be home invader and after giving him the addresstold the homeowner to prepare for company. That would a rather Hitchockian twist!

Tomahawk are you a part time writer for Law and Order? That sounds alot like one of their 'ripped from the headlines' plots.
