So I decided today to OC for the first time. I have a Glock 19C.

Didnt go crazy, just wanted to see a small sample of how people react.

I returned a few rentals at the Blockbuster on Horizon & College. I did see a couple both look at my gun but hurried up into the store.

Then went to Subway on Horizon & Horizon Ridge. There was one oter customer in line in front of me. She noticed it right away but no real reaction. The 2 people behind the counter acted completely normal. They obviously saw it but did not have an obvious stare at it.

I think that people as a whole see a person come in with a gun on their side and assume that they are a cop or some other sort of professional who would carry. I doubt that it even enters the regular persons mind that you are an average civilian who is simply excercising their rights.

    It was interesting.

    Welcome to the OC crowd.

    Glad nobody seemed too affected.

Once enough people start doing it, people will probably realize that not only cops OC.

I'm glad you kept yourcool instead of telling her howyou really felt. When somebody questions you exercising your rights, its a perfect opportunity to educate them. While it would be great if everyone was accepting of it, they can only get that way if they become educated and they see the peoplewho OCin a positive light. We want the public to have see us in a positive way afterall and I think being polite is the key to that.

Keep in mind that many people who may question you may simply be ignorant of the law or curious rather than antagonistic.

mrFREEZZE, I deleted your posts. Your attitude as described in your last post was the exact opposite of what we are about and why we're here.

Yourpost was completely inappropriate, full of vulgarity and threats of violence and we don't condone that type of behaviorhere on OCDO. While you may have a RIGHT to OpenCarry, with that sort of attitudeyou probably won't have that right or firearms for that matter, much longer. Not legally, at least.

Just because you CAN OC and CAN have a firearm doesn't mean that you are mature enough or should.

I might not speak for everyone, but if I saw an OC'er (or anyone else packing, in general, concealed or otherwise) "pull out the <model of gun> and slap some <whoever> upside the head" for anything (short of legal self defense), the person doing the slapping would be looking down the barrel of whatever I was carrying.

Not to mention they would drop down next to crack dealers in my catalog of the people with the worst moral compasses.

It is ignorant to be angry at someone for asking why you do something. In my view, the fact someone is asking and not accusing typically tells me they arent out looking for any trouble, they are just curious. Answer their questions and dont be rude - they did nothing but inquire.

I was in sales for a while, and I learned a real good rule of thumb:

For every person who has a bad experience, it takes 100 people having a good experience to balance out the numbers. (This was for sales, but I noticed it tends to apply to any opinion).

Hence why it is not in anyones best interest to give OC'ers a bad name. That just means 100 of us have to work harder to project a more positive picture simply because one person didnt have enough patience to explain.

    End random post.

If your shoes are that bad, there are a few choices you have - make excuses or change your shoes.

True. Just came back to Texas from Las Vegas. Open carried in restaurants, gas station, the outlet mall near the airport.... etc.... Didn't open carry inside the strip casinos. I stayed at Flamingo and didn't want to be asked to leave.... Nobody cares or gives you a funny look. Awesome!!! This is the first time I open carried in Vegas.

I OC'd for the first time this weekend. No problems and no one said a word. Today, I took the bus to work...like usual, only this time I had my Beretta 92FS with me. No one said a word, not even the driver. I love it.
