I own property up North in Arbor Vitae. I'll be flyin in from AZ in April. It almost seems that I'm better off taking the risks that come withCCW than OC in your upside down State(I only refer to your gun laws). I plan on moving up there in 3 years. I keep a close watch on this forum in hopes that you guys somehow figure out a way to actually let the will of the people be heard. 78% of the state agrees w/ CCW, I've read... how the heck does your Govenor stay in office? Honestly, I'm baffled.

Ya, I've heard Madison is as about as liberal as you can get. Ironically, anyone I've had a related discussion with up North were exclusively conservative. Maybe I encoutered a coincidentally skewed sample, I can't say.It does seem as if there is poor representation of thevoters in your Capital. Forgive me if I'm off the mark and please keep in mind this is merely an outsider's observation.

Also, please do not misconstrue my observations as an attack on your State. I spend a couple of weeks up North each summer(fishing) and I love the area. I have 4 two year olds and do not want them to reach school age here in AZ. The education system here is dead last among the 50States.I look forward to moving my clan to the north woods.

Edit: GJD. I used to skate quite a bit at Kenosha County Ice Arena... do they still have blue ice there? It looked cool.

The ice arena is still here, but was recently sold and I've heard that the new owner is quite an ass. I haven't been there for a while though.

Most of us looking for ways to get out of this socialist tax hell. We are one of the highest tax states in the union and our governor and senate are looking to raise them even higher at this moment. In most ranking systems we rated the worst state to retire in because of taxes.

You might want to give this some more thought.

Ya, taxes are brutal there.I own property up there soI know a little bit about it. Do you guys think the Governor will get re-elected? I am also considering Minnesota.I could move up near Ely but myfamily has owned in the north words since '67 so I continue to hope that some sanity returns to Madison.

Edit: another important reason, as I've mentioned, is that I want my quadruplets to have a safe homeand get a good education. The school district where I'm planning to move to is very good. AZ education, however...... sucks. Most of the education money here is spent teaching illegals to speak English while the local kids are basically ignored.

WI is a nice state to live in. Yeah, taxes suck, but overall we generally have a good quality of life. If the school system is good where you plan to move, I 'd go with that.

Well from what I've read and been told the Arbor Vitae school district is pretty good.

There really isn't any good districts down here.

You'll enjoy the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I moved from Chi-town 6 years ago and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Northwoods. 75% of the Northwoodsresidents are fromMilwaukee, Madison &Chicago and wecertainly do not miss the city punks & gangs. Hunting is a major activity here so traveling with guns & riflesin vehicles on an everyday basisis normal...yes officer, just going to the local outdoor shooting range.

Arbor Vitae has one of the best shootingranges off of Hwy 51 & their school system is top notch. The Northwoods is known for great schools, roads and health care along with family security.

My family has owned a house on White Sand Lake in Lac Du Flambeau(off of Hwy H)since 1967. Heck, maybe we are neighbors.

I go up there for two weeks or so each summer. By the first of the year, my main goal is just getting through to vacation time. lol

So vehicle transport of weapons is more tolerated up there? Have you OC'd?

Yes, it's a small world. I live on Muskesin Lake near the Sugarbush chain about 3 miles from you location on White Sand. I have not OC'd but I have friends that have in Minocqua. I'm the Managing Broker for Coldwell Banker in Manitowish Waters so if you need any info prior to your move I have all the contacts...schools, doctors etc.

Still have 3' of snow & 38" of ice. Probably will not have "ice out" until 3rd week of April. Today it's about 30.

Do you have a C4 Corvette??

Thanks,

Small world indeed. I am familiar w/ the Sugarbush chain, although I've never fished it.You are living the lifestyle I want for me and my kids. For now, I'm a bit jealous heheheh. :)

I really appreciate your offer to get me dialed in up there. The kids will be kindergarden age when we move.My wife is finishising her Master's in nursing. She'll be looking for a nurse practitioner position. We'll be talking!

I am planning to plink a little while I'm up there. Do you think there will still be enough ice on the lakes to stand on it, second week of April? My grandmother's property on White Sand has a bank that makes an excellent backstop.

Wes, youmust knowTom Lee? He's an old family friend and I bought a couple of small lots in Arbor Vitae w/ him as my realtor. I'll be up for just a couple of days but may go look at a property on Headflyer with him.

If you know Tom, please tell him I (Steve Bailey) said "hello".

We'll have to break bread together one of these times I make it up there.

Steve

Heheh , yes I have a c4 vette. a project car if you will. :)

you must have(had) a vette of your own? What year?

Tom Lee works in our Minocqua office so next time I see him I'll mention your name.

"Ice out" normally occurs mid-April but this has been a brutal winter...3 degrees this morning with no snow melt so farand this week is going to be cold. You can always use the 2 shooting ranges in the area if you can't use theWhite Sand location.

I have owned 8 new Corvettes since 1981. My last one was the first year of the rebornZ06 (2001). I was the first one drivinga Z06 in Chi-town on September 3, 2000 and sold it before I moved north in October, 2001 (I regret that but needed the cash for the lake home).

Let me know when you are in town.
