Campus Carry on NPR

Just listened to the NPR program "Here and Now", they ran a segment on campus carry, interviewed Brent Tenney, U of Utah student, Joe Kendall at Vir. Tech., and James Hardina, police commander at Arizona S.U. Not a bad piece, although for absolute balance, they should have had another pro-carry person to make it 2-2.

Tenney sounds good, but it feels like they weren't giving him time to expound. Kendall is a "feel good" crainio-rectally inversion-challanged whiner. Hardina essentially contradicts himself several times. He apparently believes that crossing the invisible University property lineturns student gun owners into Rambos' with impulse control issues, andpolice into confused, trigger happyidiots who will shoot perp and victim alike in an indiscriminant hail of panicked gunfire.

They're doing another gun-related item tomorrow, can't remember the topic.

Ahahaha. Absolute balance and "NPR" or "PBS" should never be used in the same sentence or paragraph. Heck, they shouldn't be used on the same page. Actually, I would be surprised to even find any NPR or PBS direct employee who has the wheels on their cars or bicycles balanced. Editors of the communist era Pravda listen/watch NPR and PBS, look at each other and lament, "Comrade, if only we could have been so blatantly biased and distorted in our broadcasts."

That aside, thanks for posting the link. I don't have time to listen to the entire thing at the moment, but heard enough to be intrigued to finish it.

It gets so old listening to the same oldstupid excuses that the anti's(in this case the campus policman)give for not allowing guns on campus....

Students are drunk all the time and can't control the weapons.

The weapons will all get stolen -especially since so many 21 year olds live in campus dorms.

Students get into fights all the time and will bring out their guns to settle things.

And my favorite.....

What will happen if a gunman walks into a class and 15 students pull out their weapons?.... Well, I'm thinking if that happens, you'd probably have a deadbg instead of 15 dead studentsor is that not the purpose of self defense.

Just plain crazy.

My favorite response to those arguments is: "What do you think it is that makes students in Utah so much more responsible than everywhere else? They've had the right to carry since 2004, and none of these things have happened."

It's interesting when the Policeman is asked about the 'assault' weapons they will now have, he explains that they really aren't 'military' weapons, they just look likeassault weaponsbut are semi-auto. It seems like I've heard that explanation before. And, although he previously said that a campus shooting is so rare that ccw weapons aren't necessary, it's necessary for them to have 'assault' weapons for just that instance.

He also says 'there is no way to prevent someone from coming onto campus or a shopping mall or .... to shoot as many people as possible'. Doesn't that kinda contradict the whole gun-control theory, that you can prevent it? So, since we can't prevent it, we certainly wouldn't want anyone there on the spot tohave a chance to stopit, would we.

So many hidden agendas.........
