Congressman Moran:

You have shown yourself for what you are and it istime to step down and fade away into themediocrity that will be the rest of your life. Anyone that feelsthe threat to animals from poachers is more important than the threat to humans from human predators, spits in the face of both the laws of man AND God.By your actions, shall you be defined aselitist scum that puts politics above human safety and have no faith in citizens to be responsible for themselves, therefore unfit to represent anyone but yourself from now on.

I love it, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! Did you catch what the reporter said right at the end? I quote: "Still as gun-rights advocates well know usually the best time to put lawmakers on the spot about guns is right before a big election."

And why might that be? Because lawmakers might be afraid of what the people may do to their political career if they resist the will of the people? HA! and double HA! The only way his statement makes any sense is if he believes the lawmakers should do the "right" thing to protect the people even if the people disagree, by a wide margin I might add. Talk about elitist!!!

Good grief, do these idiot "journalists" have even a slight chance of getting it? You know they can't possibly be that stupid so the only logical conclusion is that they do get it but it DOES NOT MATTER TO THEM. They have an elitist agenda and therefore the end will always justify whatever means they use to attain it. Just my opinion.

Why are National Parks any different than State Parks in VA and National Forests, both of which allow Carry by Permit Holders?

Is there a problem with legal carriers poaching in State Parks and National Forests that I don't know about?

Are innocent people being slaughtered during arguments (wilderness rage) in State Parks and campgrounds and the media not reporting it?

Is there blood running down some stream somewhere that the Senator has failed to tell us about?

If not, then he should just shut up and stick to things he knows about, like greed, corruption and socialism and leave the commentary to those with a clue.

Here are a few links from folks that oppose lawfull carry of firearms in National Parks:

http://www.npsretirees.org/feature/fighting-keep-gun-ban

http://www.npca.org/keep_parks_safe/

Funny but their main argument revolves around the fact that since firearms are currently permitted as long as they are unloaded and safely stowed this renders them useless for a nearly infinate amount of time.

How long would it take a poacher to draw his lawfully stowed weapon, load it, and shoot? How much longer would it take an irate visitor to grab his stored and unloaded firearm and bring it into play? Not very long friends.

The fact is I am unaware of a single incident that would fall into the abovementioned catagories. If those with CCW permits were permitted no significant change would be noted. These same CCW permit holders carry everywhere else in society and have no problems.

We have hundreds of acres of National Parks here in Yorktown and I am prohibited from enjoying them while being able to protect my wife and children...senseless.

The whole argument against it doesn't make sense to me. Many states allow carry in state parks and forests. There doesn't seem to be some over whelming problem with poaching in those states.

I think the great elitist need to get open their eyes and not listen to their paid protection. We have the 4th most dangerous national park right in our back yard according to the National Park Ranger Survey. Doesn't it seem like it's time to listen to citizen concerns? I know I have spent a fair amount of time in the Shenandoah park when I was growing up, but now my activities take me more to the national forests...

I used to go there all the time.

After I started carrying, I stopped going.

Not worth the hassle and the risks.

And shall-issue CCW states don't have blood running in the streets either...

The logic behind anti-gun laws never ceases to amaze me :banghead:

The key thing to remember is that there IS NO LOGIC behind them. There's nothing behind them but emotion. The emotion does get dressed in a little logic, after the fact, in order to make the lack of rational basis a little less obvious, but it shouldn't be any surprise that the window dressing is pretty flimsy.
