Its because they want to control the populus, just look back at some of the things Thomas Jefferson a few hundred years ago.
The stricter the goverment, the more you fear them, the more power they have over you.

"When the people fear the goverment, there is tyranny, when the goverment fears the people there is liberty" Thomas Jefferson

he said alot of good things americans, lest we forget who our true founding fathers are.

CNN is referring to Ron Paul's vote on HR 2122. GOA advised a "NO" vote against HR 2122 because there was a lot more in it than just waiting periods. More bad than good:
http://www.gunowners.org/hs9917.htm

Ron Paul's "NO" vote on that bill was a good thing.

Ron Paul speeches on gun control and waiting periods (made within days of the gun show waiting period vote mentioned by CNN):

http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec99/cr061599.htm

Ron Paul is the most consistent supporter of the 2nd amendment you'll ever find:
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/69/
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/second-amendment/

Ron Paul opposes ALL federal regulation on the keeping and bearing of arms. Period. He's always voted that way, he always will. He's consistent and principled.
