    Hi everyone,
First off I just want to say hello! long time lurker, first time poster.
Living in the socialist republic of new jersey I'm denied my Right to open carry.
My question is "Can I OC as a nonresident in a open carry state or does that only apply to residents of that state?

Thanks for any information on this subject.

    respectfully yours

Most states don't make a distinction. For example, NH state police recommend open carry for visitors to the state who don't have a valid CCW permit.

As you are in NJ I should warn you to be careful in PA: open carry is legal without a permit except in Philadelphia or in a vehicle - both of those require a CCW permit.

Well, I am not a lawyer first off, but it is my understanding that while in the legal borders of any given state, one must abide by the laws of that state. This also means you typically have the general freedoms granted by that particular state's laws, unless the law specifically states that it applies only to residents (this is usually only in dealing with CCW Resident permits and issues like voting, DMV, etc).

So, if you legally transport your gun to a state in which the gun is legal by that state's law, and it is legal to open carry, then I would say yeah, open carry. Just make sure you dont violate any laws in getting your firearm out of NJ.

Hope this helps, Im sure theres people with more knowledge that can help more. I just happen to be awake :P

Hell, we're all good to OC AND CC in your state, without a permit! The way it should be! Wish it weren't so cold in Alaska...

Thanks guys for all your help.
I thought I should be able to OC if permitted in that state, I just wanted some comformation.
Living in a socialist state can make you alittle paranoid and forgetful that some folks
are still free to exersize their God given rights.
I cant wait to get out of here and move back to Kentucky...just a couple more years!!

    Thanks again everyone!
