Hi all. All of the NFCU branches in the Tidewater area that are not on a base are posted with "No Weapons" signs.I emailed their headquarters about 4-5 months ago and received a phone call from them informing me that it was NFCU's policy to not allow the carrying of weapons in their branches. I recently saw on a post that the branches in Burke and Springfield, VA were not posted and that one of our bretheran often OCed into the branches. I am curious as to what other locations are not posted and do allow OC. I hate it when a business does not allow weapons at all, but I hate it even more when it is allowed some locations and not others. I know with franchises it could be up to the owner (if not specified by the corporation) but NFCU is not franchised.

Last time I was at the Vienna branch there was no posting that I saw, and that is their headquarters. It is possible that I missed it since I was not too concerned since I was not carrying at the time.

I carry into the NFCU branch on the corner of Centerville Turnpike and Mt Pleasant Road in Chesapeake all the time. No sins and no problems.

You shuold get some of your buddies at the credit union together and demand that the signs are removed or that you wil close your accounts - you can easily bank by mail thru USAA if you or your parents were ever in the military.

I've never noticed a sign at the branch in Chesapeake near the intersection of battlefield and the expressway. I have, however, seen one at the branch by Kempsville and Providence in Virginia Beach.

There is a sign at the one on Sable dr. in Va Beach, talked to the asst. mgr and also to some security guy by phone at main office.

NFCU's policy is no guns allowed. I am in the process of cancelling my account and moving to another bank. Didnt think it would be this hard but with direct deposit it is a pain.

When i do cancel I am writing a letter to the president and informing him exactly why I am no longer doing business with them.

I never saw a sign at the NFCU Branch by NOB on Hampton Blvd for the 6 years I lived in VA. Then again, I didn't look either. I also carried mostly CCW while I lived in VA. Also, not that it really matters, butthere always was a Police Officer at the same branch when I went in to conduct my business.

Perhaps consider writing the acct. mgr. first.

Better yet, write the acct. mgr. a business-format letter saying you are seriously considering closing your account. Put you account & phone # in the header, sign and mail it. You should get a phone call w/in the next day or so. If not, bring it up when you go to close your account, "I really like your services, and the tellers are fantastic, but..." Always compliment them first, then politely state the problem--all banks & such hate losing accounts.
Wachovia didn't seem to care when I closed my account there because of their no guns policy. It was a typical ping-pong conversation: "It's for your safety" "But you don't even have an armed guard" "It's for your safety" "Only I am responsible for my safety" "It's for your safety" sigh

I drove up the road to SunTrust, wearing a polo shirt and my Glock OWB, they were glad to have my business.

Can anyone up north confirm that this is still the case? I find it frustrating that NFCU's policy is no guns and then guns are allowed in their headquarters location.

Hmmm....MCPON Campa is on the Supervisory Committee for NFCU. Perhaps a well worded letter asking him to take a look at that policy is in order.

He happens to bea very close friend of a very close friend of mine and in fact isconducting my friend's retirement in June in Hawaii. If I can get out there for the ceremony, perhaps I can get a few moments for a word....

I'm going to call Rick and ask if he knows Joe's RKBA leanings...

I've OC'ed at the Woodbridge location (ATM outside only) as well as the remote ATM on Route 1 at 234 (in the small gas station parking lot), as well as the remote ATM in Manassas near the Best Buy (Not sure what the exact location is). No problems even in front of the security guard.

Was at the Wachovia here in Las Vegas and no signs posted. I carried semi-open the first day I went in, my shirt was maybe covering half of the weapon, but it was easily discernible.

I saw at least one teller glance down and notice it. No problems even when I started arguing with one of the other tellers about one of their policies.

Long story short, I had to come back several days later, and this time was completely OC, though this time it didn't seem anyone noticed.

I made a large cash withdraw (from my account, LOL) so I was escorted back to the lunch room for them to count it out for me, and even in a room away from the vault and teller counters, two bank employees, and large sums of cash sitting on the break-room table, my OC weapon was ignored.

    Burke Branch is Now Posted

I hate to drag up an old thread here on a topic that seems to come up from time to time, but I regret that I have to report that the Burke NFCU branch is now posted; although I can't say for sure when the sign went up. I was there two weeks ago, and I can't say for sure that the sign was or was not there then, but yesterday, when I was inside waiting in line, I noticed a "Ghost-Busters" sign in the window. The sign is about waist-high in the window directly to the left of the door. It has an image of a pistol crossed out and reads "NO FIREARMS are allowed on this property."

I have mentioned in several other threads that I have OC'd in that branch far too many times to count, and I have never had a single negative comment or encounter. However, I was CCing on both my visit two weeks ago as well as yesterday, and prior to these resent trips, it had been several months since I was last inside the Burke branch.

I wanted to ask a manager about the sign, but I was still on the clock at the time, and I had already waited in line for a while. Hopefully next week I will have a chance to ask some questions and send some emails.

I wonder, has anyone else seen other NFCU branchs in NoVA posted resently?

I have had accounts at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Navy Federal, etc.
Now use USAA exclusively.. Low rates on insurance, great rates on banking, refund ATM fees worldwide, cash back on DEBIT card and Smartphone deposits (Take a picture of the check and it's instantly in my account).

@#$%@ Navy Federal and the rest. I think I will send them a postcard anyway.

Hampton Blvd by NOB is now posted with a Ghostbusters sign. I was CCing when I first went there a couple months ago and saw the sign. I saw the Norfolk PD cop by the door and then I acted like I had forgotten something in my car. Left both pistols there and went in. I have to do business with them because i got my car loan through them because they had the best rates when I got it.

The new NFCU branch next to Quaker Steak and Lube in Newport News is also posted. I REALLY don't like their impersonal system. The tellers are behind an ATM machine of some sort and you do your business without seeing them in person. You only see a camera image of them. I complained about that silliness to the front counter person. She said they were probably going to do away with it.

The NFCU branch on Shore Drive by Littlecreek Amphibious Base is now 'posted' also, I noticed that the other day when I went to use the ATM right out in front of the place.
